Aerie’s Digital Brand: In high school days when everybody couldn't get enough of Victoria’s Secret and Pink, I found myself wishing for something a little less fake. At 14, I wasn’t focused on always looking sexy and wanted something that was cute and actually seemed practical for everyday, which is how I found myself leaning towards Aerie. As I’ve gotten older I have continued to buy from them and have kept up with their social media and come to love their brand as a whole. Their motto is “Aerie Real” and their social media focuses on highlighting lighthearted, real life “Aerie Girls” without retouching any of the photos. I love the authenticity that their brand has and promotes and I think that it is a very now way of branding yourself. However, I do think that the lightheartedness they reflect through their social media can sometimes come off as immature. Their models range from ages twenty to thirty five, but their social media makes it seem like their target audience is more around ages fourteen to eighteen. I think that by interspersing posts with a more mature look they could be taken more seriously with older markets as well.
