Bruce knocked on Sharlene's door, carrying an overnight bag in his hands. He wrung his hands nervously - he was worried she'd forgotten about him after all this time.
Sharlene put down her burger on the wrapper and looked around her motel room for a pair of pants, shifting out of the bed and pulling them on before she walked on over to the door, unlocking it and opening it up and looking curiously at the other.

Vincent was surprised. Sharlene wasn’t exactly unattractive. “So what, you haven’t gotten any since high school?” He laughed. “Trust me, there are plenty of guys to which beer and skinny dipping is pretty much the best date ever.”
She shrugged, “No, I’ve gotten some, I just haven’t gone on a date since high school.” She laughed, shaking her head and taking a sip of her coffee. “One night stands however.” Her nose crinkled, laughing and shrugging at that. “Maybe, but the moment I bring that idea up as a date the guy usually gets attached to me, and I don’t want someone clinging onto that when I’m so busy in the first place.”
Vincent shrugged. “I’ve been okay. My social life has been in the toilet because of work. I had one of those “blind dates” set up by a friend. It was disastrous. You?”
“Well y’have me to talk to, so there ya go.” She grinned, teasing really, she didn’t find herself interesting in the least. “Blind date, I thought those were only in movies.” She raised an eyebrow at him before laughing. “I can honestly say I haven’t been on a date since High School, but that’s what I get for being more into beer and skinny dipping than telling some guy I don’t know what my favourite book is.” She shrugged.

“You should try melatonin.” he said, voice groggy. “They come in these little mango flavored gummies and they help you sleep.” Sharlene was always a dependable person, what was it that had her all out of whack?
Sharlene had nightmares for years, so sleeping wasn’t a thing that generally interested her. “I’ll keep them in mind... If I remember.” She stated simply with a grin. “How have you been?”
“Incredible.” He sighed, sitting. Vincent was secretly happy to be out of the office, but he had a brand to maintain here. “How on earth did you end up on the same case as me?” He said, scanning the menu. When the waitress came, he ordered a pastrami and corned beef sandwich and a bowl of chili. Been too long since he had it. “How have you been?”
“I guess someone thinks we work well together,” She answered simply, shifting to sit cross legged on the booth. She knew getting him out of the office was a much needed event, less she step in there one day and he’s buried alive in forms and files. “Y’know, the usual..” She shrugged, “Sleepless nights, lots of junk food, stressed the fuck out and shit.”
Dean stopped and gave her a look before laughing, “Y’ could say that.” He turned back to her car and moved to look under the hood, checking it over before nodding at her guess of the battery giving out. “I can give y’ a jump if y’ need one.” He peered around the open hood. “And show y’ the way to the store.”
“Well I can be assured that he probably smells nice, since he’s a fallen angel and all.” She shrugged with a smirk, shoving her hands into her jean shorts pockets. “My hero.” She grinned, taking a step to go get the cables needed from her trunk. “And for that, I’ll buy ya a couple of drinks.”
“Gotta say, it’s nothin’ like satan’s armpit out here.” He chuckled, shutting the door to the Impala. “Do y’ need some help with that?” He motioned to her car, knowing enough to hopefully get it moving again.
“Ya familiar with the feel of Lucifer’s armpit?” She asked with a grin, teasing lightly. “That would be great, usually I’m on top of this, but It’s been busy the past couple weeks and I forgot to grab some parts.” She ran a hand through her hair, leaning against the car. “I’ve taken her apart and put her together more times than I can count, but right now I just need t’grab a new battery or get enough of a charge t’get me to the nearest store for a new one...” She paused, looking around, “Wherever that store is.”
