I have this headcanon that after Neville proposed to Hannah Abbott, he went to his parents at St. Mungo’s and sat with them. Even though he was sure she wouldn’t understand or remember, he held his mother’s hands and told her, “I’m getting married, Mum. She’s great. You’ll really like her.” Alice just hummed and stared off into the distance. No reaction. Neville still stayed, telling his parents all about Hannah and their plans, and how she wanted so badly to come meet them and he would bring her next time.

Then, as he put his hand on the door handle to leave, he felt a hand on his shoulder. It was Alice. She held out her hand as she had done so many times before. Expecting a candy wrapper, Neville held out his hand but felt something heavier drop into it.

When he looked down, there were two rings. And when he glanced to his mother’s hand, there was an indent where her wedding ring had once rested but was no longer there.

Is everything in this post designed to make me fucking sob?

(There hasn't been any contrite Steve yet, but I'm really hoping that's coming and in the meantime the Tony developments have been absolutely perfect!)

Based on people saying that Tony had no reaction to losing Jarvis and especially these tags: #tony’s most enduring relationship yet what his loss meant for him wasn’t even brushed upon in aou.

Tony Stark is a person who will not sit and do nothing when faced with death, no matter if it’s his own or someone he cares about. He will not let grief leave him motionless. He will stand up and fight and get revenge.

But in only these two cases, he had complete opposite reaction. When he realized that Banner, man who he respected and at that point considered a friend, was suicidal and tried to end his misery, he was broken. He was motionless, his eyes showed his devastation.

He had the exact same reaction when Vision said he is not Jarvis. Tony helped create Vision. Ultron gave him the body, but Tony gave him his mind. He put Jarvis, a system that was named by a man who raised him, a caretaker, an artificial intelligence that is ‘til this day the best thing Tony created, and a friend, he put him inside this body. There was a great chance he would bring his greatest friend to life and give him the body he deserved. But also there was a chance that this new body would have the mind of his own, completely different to what Jarvis was and stood for. He took that risk and gave his best shot in order to protect everyone.

When Vision woke up, Tony had a glimpse of hope on his face that his friend is now walking and standing right beside him. But as soon as Vision said he is neither Ultron nor Jarvis, he realized his best friend is gone. He had the same look when he realized that Bruce wanted to kill himself. Because that is Tony’s reaction to his friend taking his own life or him taking his friend’s life. In that moment Tony understood what happened, that he killed Jarvis, at least the original one. And he was completely devastated.

There’s a website where you can learn ASL on your own and it is free and the woman on there, her name is Rochelle Barlow, she runs the site and she actually is a homeschool teacher and teaches ASL. I am passing this on to you guys cause most people on here is open-minded. Well, whoever of y’all reads this will possibly ignore this but if you are a curious george like me and wants to learn ASL she’s your gal.

Rochelle has a free program called Learn ASL in 31 days, currently I am on day 10ish or 12, (idk I’m on learning my numbers currently) but I believe this site will help people that are either curious about ASL and just wants to learn, or actually is Deaf but can’t afford to going to actual class or something, or just hard of hearing.

I am truly in love with learning with Rochelle, she isn’t those interpreters that will talk while she signs, (and I’ve searched through Youtube how to sign but the person talking will distract me and I would get confused) and it is all in video which is a good thing. I found her through Youtube, that’s where she has all her videos. Just check out her site. You’ll like it.

Okay, so I have some questions about the Starks’ assassination...

Something about it has been bugging me since the movie came out and I think I finally figured out what it is. There were several indications that the crash had been orchestrated and yet no one seemed to question it and just accepted the deaths of Howard and Maria Stark as a tragic accident. If we go by what we see in the surveillance video, Howard’s injuries are pretty consistent with a head on collision (blunt force trauma, severe head injury, etc.) Maria’s, however, are not. If the video is to be believed, the Winter Soldier strangled her in the passenger seat. Unless it panned away and he actually broke her neck instead, death by strangulation is not consistent with a car crash. Not only that, the one surveillance camera (conveniently placed btw) that captured the whole thing and could have provided details about the wreck itself was shot out. With a bullet. And literally no one thought to question that?

We know Howard was going somewhere with the serum that was used to make the other Soldiers which means he was planning to give it to someone. When Stark was tragically killed in a car accident on the way to deliver said serum and it mysterious goes missing from his car, did that person/agency never think to question it? This would have been an important package, a serum that could potentially be used to create more super soldiers, and now it’s missing and everyone just shrugs and accepts it? That seems strange.

The thing that bothers me more than anything, though, is the fact that Tony honestly didn’t seem to know anything about it. It’s very heavily implied in CA:TWS that the “accident” that killed Tony’s parents was planned and after the SHIELD dump online, it seems like he would have stumbled across that information on his own. He doesn’t though and was still completely blindsided by the information when it was presented toward the end. When Tony asks Steve if he knew, he says yes because yeah, he knew it wasn’t an accident because Zola practically spelled it out for him. Did he know it was Bucky? Debatable; it’s a pretty easy assumption to make but there was no physical, concrete evidence of his involvement until that video was played. Did he suspect it? Probably. Did he hope he was wrong? Absolutely. But that still leaves us with the question of why was Tony Stark left in the dark about all of this?

Sure, telling a 16-year-old kid that his might have parents were assassinated is never a conversation to look forward to but this is Tony Stark we’re talking about here and Tony Stark is a damn genius. Tony is a problem solver and if there was even a hint that there was something suspicious about the wreck that killed his parents then he would have jumped head-first into it to figure out what happened. We know he had a pretty tenuous relationship with his father but he seemed to care deeply for his mother and I can’t imagine him just accepting her death if there was anything shady about it.

So my question now is who was keeping this information from him? It’s a tough subject, sure, but Tony was their only child and he deserved to know the truth. I’m not doubting the authenticity of the video (even though Zemo is a damn savant when it comes to framing Bucky Barnes) but with all the evidence clearly pointing indicating that the accident was no accident, why was Tony Stark the last to know?

The Winter Soldier was a master assassin that excelled in framing and espionage? He’s responsible for untold numbers of deaths that were made to not look like deaths. I think he could easily have made it look like an accident. Also, it is possible to be strangled in a severe car accident by your seatbelt. He could easily stage that. It’s hinted in that memory of Tony’s that Howard and Maria were possibly on their way to the Pentagon first before their flight to the Bahamas. Which makes sense, Department of Defence and all that.

The thing is, we don’t know if Bucky staged that too. He could make it look like the case broke, that the formula spilled out when the car slammed into the tree. Or more likely, someone that worked at the Dept of Defense was a secret Hydra agent and was the informant that said that Howard would be traveling with the serum. Wouldn’t be the first time Stark’s were betrayed for their creations…

Tony is actually surprisingly trusting and sentimental, especially pre-Iron Man. He would have been shattered by their deaths, he wouldn’t have questioned it. And he’s still not properly grieved them, he’s just trying his hardest not to think about it.

After the SHIELD papers leak, we’re talking billions, maybe trillions of bytes of data leaked all at once. It would take several lifetimes to sort through it all. The only reason that Zemo found a crumb of information is because he was specifically looking for anything related to the Avengers, to Tony Stark because that’s who he blamed for his family’s deaths. He saw a file with the highly publicized date of their tragic accident and started digging and happened to stumble upon all this (not easily, I mean he did have to literally find and torture a former Hydra agent and find a secret old book hidden in a wall so it wasn’t all out there for everyone to find lmao.)

I’m also assuming that most of the information, the video file especially, was all stored at the Siberian base, and thus the reason that he had to find it and lure them there. It was all kept off servers, completely isolated and self contained.

Steve did know that it was Bucky, the video that Zola shows him makes it pretty darn clear. And he knew Howard, he was friends with Howard, I think he’d have caught the news headlines and coverage that Zola showed him, he let it play for a long beat. Steve just didn’t see the video footage of it because it was locked in the Siberian facility. What I find harder to believe is that Steve isn’t more physically shocked by actually watching that video? There’s a difference between hearing about it and actually seeing your best friend kill one of your other close friends and his wife, the parents of one of your workmates. Like??? Shit man, I get choked up if I see raccoon roadkill on the highway, let alone watching the graphic deaths of people I know. But he just goes “I’m sorry, Tony. He was brainwashed.” You’ve gotta know that isn’t gonna play well with the child of the people assassinated, right? Jesus, Steve, have some tact.

Tony is the last to know because no one knew besides Hydra. The whole world, US government included, believed it was a tragic accident. Tony probably spent the last 25 years thinking his Dad got drunk at a holiday party and killed his mother and himself. That probably only served to harden his already strained relationship and view of his father. So aside from the fact that they were murdered, he just learned he spent 25 years cursing his father and blaming their deaths on him when they were assassinated. That is fucked up, my friend.

^ All of this.

Also I just have to point out that the car caught on fire when it hit the tree.  It couldn’t have been hard to get the fire to spread throughout the car and destroy any evidence of foul play - especially not for someone who’d covered up assassinations many times before.  My assumption upon seeing Civil War was that even SHIELD didn’t know for certain that the accident and subsequent fire hadn’t caused the death of the Starks and the destruction of the serum.  If Zemo found just a hint somewhere in the SHIELD files that there was suspicion of foul play, then he would have dug for it until he found the answers.  However, at the young age of twenty-one years old, Tony Stark wouldn’t have been privy to the suspicions of those who knew about the about the serum being delivered by Howard.  Not to mention that as their next of kin, he probably had to identify their mutilated and burned bodies and would have been so overcome with grief and horror at that death of his parents - and his immediate inheritance of Stark Industries with all the responsibilities his new position would have entailed - that he probably never once questioned the facts as the police would have told them to him.

Who fixes broken people? Is it only other broken people, ones who’ve already been ruined? And do we need to be fixed? It was the messiness and hurt in our pasts that drove us, and that same hurt connected us at a subdermal level, the kind of scars written so deeply in your cells that you can’t even see them anymore, only recognize them in someone else.”  - Leah Raeder

Iron Man screen test, Sept 2006. Possibly the first time RDJ portrayed the legendary Tony Stark. Let’s join hands and be thankful for this moment.

Here’s what RDJ had to say about it:

I think Iron Man wound up being the first time I screen-tested since Chaplin. As far as I was concerned, it was destiny. I just wasn’t going to let lack of perseverance, lack of preparation, or lack of prayer get in the way. I just went crazy — in a good way. And suddenly it occurred to me, Oh my God, Stan Lee might not know this, but everything he created has all been leading to this moment. It’s me.

Excuse me while I melt into a puddle of feels.

Just thought a visual of the emotional, physical and down right traumatic pile of crap Tony Stark has been wading through in the MCU might be nice. (Especially for those who seem a little fuzzy on how much it really has added up to over the years)

Most of this is absolutely 100% accurate, I just want to say that he was not waterboarded when he was taken by the Ten Rings. Waterboarding is simulated drowning. Tony was actually drowned as a means of torture, repeatedly having his head shoved and forcefully held down underwater. We see it happen only once, but it clearly happened more than once as that seemed to be the only way to get Tony to cooperate (as well as threatening Yinsen).

And because of this drowning, I’d just like to note that Tony is never shown physically in water in the films. His house has a massive built in pool on one of the lower levels that we have never seen. I’ve always thought that this was because water was a huge trigger for him. We’ve never seen Tony take a bath or shower, never by a pool or hot tub.

So when his house gets blown up in Iron Man, his house falls into the ocean and it takes him down along with it. He is pulled down into the depths and held there under wires and debris and could clearly have drowned, again. If you watch that scene with the water torture of IM1 in mind, it’s honestly horrifying. And he also passes out afterwards, he doesn’t just pass out for a few minutes, he sleeps the entire way from Malibu, California to Rose HIll, Tennessee.
