Choices are hard
So I’ve always been a bit bad at making choices. Always. I tend to get distracted by the new fun thing as it flies by. And lately I’ve been feeling that pull with my language learning.
I understand five languages(ish) and a dialect. One native (the dialect is rough and native), two I’d classify as “I can read and understand but don’t ask me to speak”, and then there’s Japanese.
Japanese is probably the language I’m putting the most effort into out of all of them. The rest I’ve learned through assimilation with native speakers. But since Japanese comes with two alphabets and a whole vocabulary of characters..... it’s a whole different ball game.
I’ve put more effort into Japanese than any of the others. But it’s hard to not see other languages (I’m looking at you Mandarin and Korean) and be tempted to jump to them. Especially when you find so many tempting books in those languages.
