Twt armys are kinda used to the agressive approach about it, but I kinda get how it can freak out people who aren't on twt. That's ok. It can be overwhelming. Especially for people who have been fed horror stories about streaming and voting all day and night without sleep and how it’s “inorganic” (it’s not, btw - or rather, the entire music industry is inorganic and streaming is one of the few ways we can use to level the ground a little bit).
Here’s the thing about streaming: it should be fun. There are different ways to stream and even if you’re not cut out for the intense streaming twt army tend to do, you can still help a lot. You can create your own playlists that customize how often you want to hear a certain song. There are playlists you can use that are less intense. Or you can just put BTS’ music on shuffle and help with streams on other songs. The important thing is, that we are fans of musicians, first and foremost, so when we talk about streaming, we really mean to appreciate BTS for the reason they started this whole journey they took us on.
As for voting, it can be really scary too, because especially in voting seasons, like now, there’s a bunch of things to pay attention to. But it is important, because it’s one of the ways we as fans can communicate with BTS. I can’t sit Namjoon down and tell him we’re not going anywhere, but hopefully, making sure they still get the awards they deserve, can communicate that to him. I have seen people argue that BTS don’t care about awards and don’t need them anymore, but the truth is that especially with awards that were given to them by ARMY voting, BTS have always been greatful about those. They were always about giving ARMY their best and working hard for us and the fan-voted trophies are a gesture to them from us that we see and appreciate their effort. Please don’t underestimate how important your vote can be. And don’t be afraid to ask if you don’t know how to vote.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk, lol. In short, please stream and vote, but find a way to do it without making it feel like a chore. It’s not suppossed to be and burning yourself out will not help anyone.
But also, please don’t buy into the narrative that streaming/voting is useless/inorganic/uncool or otherwise unnecessary. This is something that’s often found in kpop spaces and BTS succeeded in part because army don’t work that way.
