Abortion isn’t a basic human right. It is an action and therefore has morality. I’m not even entirely pro-life but if you have sex with someone, with no protection, it is entirely your fault you get pregnant.

Bodily autonomy is a human right, and we don’t lose it because we had sex.

If you aren’t willing to deal with the consequences of your actions you aren’t mature enough to be having sex.

If you want a way out fine, but then men should be allowed a way out too and I shouldn’t be required to pay for your abortion.

Either both genders take responsibility or neither do.

Abortion isn’t a denial of responsibility. Women getting abortions are not saying ‘fuck idk how this happened but it wasn’t MY fault’. It’s not a cop out. Its just one way to respond to a medical issue. Like a person who goes abroad and contracts malaria. Should they not be able to seek treatment? Are they not also ‘denying responsibility’ for putting themselves into a situation where this was a possible outcome?

And the idea that it’s ‘both or neither’ doesn’t really apply here because if I want an abortion and you don’t and the rule is we both have to agree...you get what you want simply by continuing to push back regardless of my circumstances or consent. THATS the ‘right to own’ problem. OP never mentioned financials, just basic human rights over ones own body.

And you HAVE a way out. The fucking door. You could simply walk away. Men do it all the time. Women cannot. Not without months of pain and suffering and mounting medical bills. The problem is literally part of them. Why do you think my punishment for unprotected sex should be SO much worse then yours? Assuming the sex was consensual and mutually pleasing (which is a big IF, trust me) why am I sentence to (at LEAST) 10 months of possible torture, HOURS of actually torture, and weeks/months of recovery. Meanwhile you get...what...? To pay a fine by way of medical bills or child support?

You also bring up morals, that abortion is ‘an action and therefore has morality’. I am an atheist. So if your argument is about inherent morality or the morality of the god fearing I will not accept that. My morality is based on the fluctuations of human opinion and my personal comprehension of science. You may not accept that either...

What it comes down to isn’t morality or personal responsibility or the fate of an immortal soul...it comes down to initial contributions. You provide a few minutes of physical exertion and half the genetic material. That’s it. I provide both those PLUS room and board, protection, sustenance, and careful cultivation day and night. I give up nights of restful sleep, time spent in doctors offices or at home that could have been spent at my job or with friends. I spend money on food, maternity items, travel, and care I could have saved for my future. I lose chances to climb the ladder of success at work or even lose my job all together.

The person putting up the most capital has the final say in any business. So if payment is your issue, I’ve got news for you. Fuck off and stop pretending like you have equal skin in this game.

ATTENTION PET OWNERS

This post is going to rushed but I’m still shaking and it’s hard to type but I NEED people to know this

My mom just took my dog to the vet She(my dog) was(still is?) having a seizure

Last month we took my dog to the vet and they told us she had developed diabetes, they told us it was caused by the food she was eating, purina beneful. They told us that there have been many many many reports of Beneful has been causing diabetes, seizures, and even death in dogs.

We had no idea

We immediately switched her food and put her on a special diet plan for her diabetes, unfortunately the effects were already permeate.

Today at 11:20 my mom woke me up crying, I helped her carry my dog to the car (while she was still having a seizure) and watched her drive away red faced and still crying.

Please please PLEASE if you are feeding your pets Purina beneful PLEASE switch their food ASAP Beneful is poising dogs and I don’t want anyone else to experience what I just did Also if you could please help me signal boost this so everyone can know

im not going to argue this one. Beneful is just shit.

Now, that being said...Purina is not. Most brands of dog food and dog food manufacturers produce a couple levels of dog food quality. This is because there are many different levels of dog owners. I have fed my dogs Purina One and Pro Plan my whole life and have had nothing but good things to say about them. My parents, who are loving dog owners, weren’t about to drop $60 on a bag of dog food. We couldn’t afford it. I can go into each brand of food I’m familiar with, but im not going to do that here.

Again, if you can afford it, dont feed your dog beneful. If you need recommendations for quality food within your budget, that is literally half my job.

All of that being said, if your dog is experiencing any of the above mentioned symptoms, regardless of what you are feeding them, talk to your vet. I am not a vet. You are probably not a vet. Unless you are, then you can do what you want. There are a million reasons why this could be happening that have nothing to do with what you are feeding your dog, or everything to do with what your feeding your dog, just not with the brand of food. Chicken is hands down the no. 1 protein used in all dog items, it is also the no. 1 allergy I run into. I’m not a big fan of grain free foods unless your dog had a grain allergy (its something dogs run into a lot in treats and other food and if they can form a sensitivity to it if not exposed regularly in small doses) plus its expensive. Limited Ingredient Diets are great though, if you can afford them.

Just do your research. Also follow feeding guides. DONT OVER FEED YOUR DOG. you are supposed to feed less the higher the quality of food, thats part of the reason beneful causes so many issues. You are forced to feed your dog a lot more to get the proper nutrition, thus causing obesity and other issues. If you are switching food, do it gradually, especially if you are making a jump in quality. If all you are used to eating is shitty fast food, your body is going to rebel hard if you suddenly start eating only stuff that comes from whole foods.

Do your research. Please please please. if can save you so much grief and money down the road. and again, I’m happy to help you or give you a nudge in the right direction.

These chews are called rawhide chews, and please please PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD NEVER GET YOUR DOGS THESE!! They’re so FUCKING bad and even dangerous for them! Here are reasons why:

1) They use all sorts of chemicals (like formaldehyde, arsenic, and bleach) to preserve them and make them look white and nice for your dog.

2) Not only do they use glue to keep the shape of the bone the way it is, but the thing basically IS glue. It’s so preserved, that when a dog eats it, it keeps it’s goopiness and can harden in the dog’s stomach, causing blockages. I’ve heard dozens of stories of dogs having to go to the ER to get these surgically removed from their intestines.

3) When they’re not chewed properly, the edges can be sharp and cause tearing in your dog’s stomach lining.

4) THESE THINGS HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO KILL DOGS, CAUSE SEIZURES, ALL SORTS OF OTHER HORRIBLE THINGS, AND THAT SHOULD BE ENOUGH.

There are natural alternatives, like tendons, bones, antlers, bully sticks/pizzle sticks, or vege chews. They ARE more expensive, but they are worth the money.

listen, this is all true, in a broad brush sort of way, but every single one of the listed alternatives comes with a number of risks as well. I am no expert, please dont take my word as absolute truth. If anything I say doesn’t ring true with you or you would like more info let me know but here are some pros and cons to each of the above:

(some) Tendons and Bully sticks are also treated with chemicals, and present a choking hazard if not eaten correctly. They are generally easier on the digestion though and are naturally interesting and tasty to dogs. They are not cheap, and the cheaper they are the less likely they are to be quality. They also smell and do not last long at all. Its hardened muscle so if your dog is sensitive to protein or has food allergies be careful 

Bones shatter and can cause hundreds of dollars in vet bills from ripped esophagus, digestive, and stomach tissue. Some are also treated with bleach and can cause chipped and broken teeth (I actually never give my dog bones, I personally consider them probably the most dangerous). They also aren’t particularly naturally appealing to dogs. Most come stuffed or covered in bits of meat and flavor and once that's gone many dogs loose interest. I don't have a bunch of positives for bones but they are pretty cheap and if you supervise can be a good short term chew. never give your dog chicken bones, they have the highest rate of shatter and thus are the most dangerous.

Antlers are super expensive and run the risk of being collected inhumanely or illegally. They don't shatter and are completely edible but still present a choking hazard. I love antlers, but unless you have a high powered chewer, don’t waste your money on getting whole ones, look for the split antlers. Its the center ‘marrow(?)’ that the dogs want so if your dog isn't going to take the time to chew thru the outside you just bought a $40 floor ornament. If you have more then one dog or have dogs visiting supervise very carefully. Antlers are considered pretty high value to most dogs and even those who don’t resource guard anything else can become a little touchy with these around. Better yet, don't have them around until you dog is alone or separated. these make great crate chews, but remember to take them away as soon as they get small enough to fit all the way into your dogs mouth/they could try to swallow it.

Hoofs and Horns are always my go to for safe and fun dog chews. They don't shatter, most places have them hollowed out so you can stuff them with treats or peanut butter like a Kong without the price tag, they are cheap (about $1.50 for a hoof) they last a while (my dog goes through a hoof a week or 2 but he is a high powered chewer and 100 ibs with a Shepard’s jaw strength) and they are naturally interesting and tasty to dogs. They are still choking hazards so if your dog can fit anything into his mouth whole, take it away. They smell, not a ton but enough to notice. Do Not keep them out during playtime's with new or visiting dogs. I have never met an item that causes so much turmoil among pups. My dog has been almost bit by my mothers dog (who is the sweetest normally) a couple of times because he was chomping on a hoof and she wanted it. once you have a feel for your dogs you can give it a try, but always supervise.

I have no experience with vege chews, but Cheese Sticks/Himalayan Chews are great. Its basically hardened,dried yak’s milk. They are pricey, and if you have a high powered chewer don't even look at them. My baby goes through one in about 20 mins, but if you have a smaller dog or one that chews as a hobby instead of like its his freaking job they are pretty worth the money. They are still choking hazards, but one they get to small to be safe you can pop them into the microwave and they will expand into a crispy, puffy treat. I dont know much about they way they are made, so I cant speak to the chemical content or anything.

Now, I don’t give my dog bones or rawhides, but Ive known far more dogs who have had no problem with them then those that have. The most common complain Ive heard around rawhides is it causes diarrhea or vomiting. More often then not that’s because of the dog, not the item. Some dogs are super sensitive to changes in diet, some aren't. The most important thing you can do for you dog is research.  pay attention to what your dog is telling you, dont give your dog treats he cant handle, are to big for him, or cause him distress. Talk to your vet about recommendations they have. Chews are very important for your dog, they help keep teeth clean and occupy their minds, thus keep dogs from having to go find something to do. Compressed rawhides are better then traditional rawhides, there are rawhides made to be easier to digest, do your research, read the packaging, source your products.

I am not trying to argue with the above post at all, I just dont like ‘never ever do this’ posts that present something as being pure evil. Rawhides are made from the raw hide of an animal, usually a horse or a cow. Hide is an edible, natural substance. If treated and produced correctly they are fine for dogs in small amounts once in a while. Thats the most important thing. Check the manufacture and Everything in moderation.
