deveroux . Sims 2

Sims 2 blog run by deveroux because I figured it was about time I separate my Sims posts from my personal blog.

Since Tumblr seems to be slowly but surely deleting my old download posts, I've decided to set up archive posts on my Dreamwidth account. For anyone looking for my default replacements and running into a missing entry, I've pulled all of those together. I apologize for how image-intensive the page will be, though.

Something I was considering for Lost in Love Hedge Maze, but I think I'm going to use this general building idea for a little café in Bluewater Village instead.

Which means doing something else with that section at the end of the maze.

Six lots left untouched in Pleasantview. I didn't do any interior decorating beyond walls, floors, and the basic utilities (kitchen and bathrooms) on three of the condos and the two extra trailer homes (which I guess are now just small brick homes instead, ahaha...) since no one lives in those yet, but I wanted them to fit the look I'd done for each of those sections. The other six lots, I'll probably put off for a while...

10 Oak Street, Pleasantview Before and After Comparison

This little cabin is one of those lots that I almost forgot about, but then I noticed it again and decided to give it a little attention. I considered making it into a mish-mosh of items to reflect this idea I have that runaway teen Sims go here to stay safe from the elements - sort of like each left some items behind - but then I ended up just decorating it with a single Sim (Lilith Pleasant) in mind, but I might go back and change it to my first idea at some point.

10 Oak Street, Pleasantview Exterior and Interior

At the edge of Pleasantview lies a small road overlooked by the populace. It wasn't that the Sims of Pleasantview were ignoring the road purposefully, of course, but rather that Oak Street had long been known as a road with nothing to offer. There were no establishments there, nor were there homes.
At least, that was what the Sims of Pleasantview believed.
Tucked out of sight and hidden by the surrounding trees lay a small, simple cottage. It wasn't much to look at and it offered even less than some of the other homes around Pleasantview, of course, but it was somewhere safe, somewhere comforting. This small cottage had, at one time or another, housed teens who had set off from home after arguments and estrangement, remaining either until they'd picked themselves up enough to afford better accomodations or until they'd reconciled with those they'd left behind.

A part of me has always wondered if 10 Oak Street was put into Pleasantview as a lot to have a teen run away to. I've been decorating it with Lilith Pleasant in mind.

How are your curtains and things so high quality???

The short answer is that they aren't really quite as high quality as they look in the final images I post; resizing, a small bit of sharpening, and the adjustments I use improve the quality a bit from how they naturally are. That said, my graphics are pretty good (AMD Radeon R9 380), though, so that helps it along. But for a comparison, the left image above is unedited (no resizing before uploading, no sharpening) and the right is edited.

This is soooo beautiful!
Love the kitchen!
I love the gray and blue color scheme.

Thank you so much for the comments! I'm glad you like it!

330 Main Street, Pleasantview Before and After Comparison

As the final part of the set of themed community lots for Pleasantview, 330 Main Street uses a more inset style to set it apart from 250 Main Street and 290 Main Street. The lofted upper level of the boutique has been removed, incorporating everything onto the ground floor instead.
Outside, there's a small area where Sims can wait for public transportation and a small lounge with a fire pit for Sims to take some time to just relax and enjoy the landscaping and fountain.

330 Main Street, Pleasantview Exterior, Boutique, and Restrooms

As part of the revitalization of the boutique at 330 Main Street, the residents of Pleasantview were asked to model for the shop's posters and photographs. The idea was to help the Sims of Pleasantview forge a more personal connection to the boutique's merchandize, and the initiative seems like it may just pay off.

290 Main Street, Pleasantview Before and After Comparison

The main goal for this lot was to use the same style as my makeover for 250 Main Street while also giving it something to make it unique and distinguishable, which is where the large archway came from. I have to admit I've always kind of hated this lot - it was one of those lots that exemplified Maxis' terrible decorating decisions (especially in the basegame).
I usually try to avoid changing the exterior walls too much, but I decided to break that personal rule for these lots (250, 290, and 330 Main Street), though my reasoning for each was a little different. In the case of this particular lot, I wanted to break some of the boxiness it had going on, and the space inside was just too much for what I wanted to do here.

290 Main Street, Pleasantview Exterior and Restrooms

The marketplace at 290 Main Street has been updated with a welcoming courtyard and outdoor lounge where shoppers can take a quick break or relax while waiting for their transportion to arrive. Kick back and relax as the fountain's water pours down, or take the time to watch other Sims rush around in the hustle and bustle of their daily errands.

290 Main Street, Pleasantview Grocery Store and Comics & Games Store

As part of the revitalization of Pleasantview, the market decided to provide a greater selection of items every Sim might require when hosting a dinner party. From a greater selection of natural, locally sourced foods to bakery, wine, and plant selections, this local market is ready to serve the needs of Pleasantview's discerning Sims.
Meanwhile, the comics and games shop has updated its selection. It still offers a couple machines to allow shoppers to enjoy themselves with friends before they make their purchases. They're proud to offer every latest craze to grab gamers' attention.

105 Sim Lane, Pleasantview Before and After Comparison

I wanted to keep the colonial style of 105 Sim Lane while updating it into something more fitting for the Burbs. Several failed attempts at a working floorplan and a ton of lost inspiration along the way, and I finally landed on an end result I was proud of.
