I bet you’re reading the title and asking yourself, “Ed, where have you been?” Well, I’ve been on my Twitter most of the time so go ahead and follow me there, since those are where I am currently posting. I am @RoboticEdward https://twitter.com/RoboticEdward/. The other question you’re probably asking is, “What’s with the title?” Well let’s just say that I’ve been into the competitive Smash Bros. scene well over 2 years now, starting in 2013 when I watched Melee @ EVO 2013 where Mang0 defeated Wobbles after coming out of the Losers Bracket, taking home the trophy. Ever since Smash 3DS and Wii U came out, I’ve been watching streams and viewing tournaments for both Melee and Smash 4 every month. What can I say, I love competitive Smash Bros. to death. Learning about how these players and tourney organizers set all of these tourneys, purchasing venues and gaining prize pool money, etc. is awe-inspiring due to the amount of effort given since Nintendo usually doesn’t sponsor tournies(until now at least).  Not to mention the amount of effort goes into playing each game, from 64, Melee, Brawl and Smash 4, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. We’re all like one big happy family and we always stick together no matter the outcome.

Now this post isn’t really about me, this is more about everyone that is a comp. Smash fan, and fans of rebeccasugar‘s show, Steven Universe, myself included. One such fan I’m referring to is Super Smash Bros. Melee professional player Kevin Toy, or better known by his player tag “PewPewU”.  He is pretty much the #1 Super Smash Bros. Melee player in Northern California, and is currently playing Super Smash Bros. for Wii U as Sheik from the footage I’ve seen. Last month he tweeted this at you, though I noticed that you don’t check your Twitter often and you’re mostly on Tumblr, so I thought I’d do Kevin a favor. I have other pics as seen above. I think you’ll appreciate them :). PewPewU seems like a nice guy.

I really want to help get the competitive scene out there, and to see a top player like PewPewU say this is really awesome. In fact, when he tweeted this, I haven’t watched SU yet, but he pretty much convinced me. It’s really a fantastic and deep show, with great animation, music, world building, characters, etc. I’ve had other friends to tell me to watch SU, and I see why it’s so great. Thank you for creating such a spectacular show!

In 2011, well known Let's Player Chuggaaconroy was playing through Majora's Mask, and mentioned a video game for the Wii that released in Europe that year, with the title known as Xenoblade Chronicles. I've never heard of that game until he brought it up, since it was never planned to be released in North America. According to Chuggaa, he stated that Reggie Fils-Aime said that if the game sold well in Europe, that Nintendo of America will bring it overseas and sell it there.

An interview with Nintendo of France's marketing manager, Mathieu Minel, stated that Nintendo of Europe wanted to show Xenoblade Chronicles at E3 2011, but Nintendo of America refused that decision because, as I stated, there were no plans to sell it in North America. Minel was declined from his job 11 days later. This then started a movement known as Operation Rainfall, in which their goal was to convince NOA to localize, not only Xenoblade, but 2 other games known as "The Last Story" and "Pandora's Tower".

This movement did many things, such as pre-ordering Xenoblade on Amazon, posting constant messages to Nintendo's Facebook and Twitter, etc. Eventually, it was announced in December of 2011 that Xenoblade Chronicles would finally be released in North America on April 6th, 2012... as a Gamestop exclusive(which REALLY blows).

Soon the game was released everywhere else, and was hit with widespread critical acclaim, calling it the "best RPG of last generation", "one of the best games ever made", etc. I never really thought much of the game during that time, since I've probably forgotten it existed until a year later, but more on that soon.

Sometime in 2013, when the game Xenoblade Chronicles X for the Wii U was first revealed as "X", I thought it looked pretty exciting and cool. I then found out it was made by the same people who did Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii, Monolith Soft. I thought it was pretty interesting that they were doing that game. I also found a Wii U showcase video showcasing upcoming games for the system that were already announced between 2011-2012. There were 2 songs that caught my attention in that video: You Will Know Our Names: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4vCEHpv6Hg and Mechanical Rhythm:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCclUgQk1Lk. I loved these songs, and I wanted more, but I didn't want to listen to the entire soundtrack because I was afraid of spoilers in the comment section.

One day(well more specifically, Black Friday in 2013), my friend went to Gamestop to buy the game for $8(he's a lucky guy) since he traded in a new game since he didn't like it(Killzone: Shadow Fall). He finished the game sometime in the beginning of 2014, and it became his favorite game of all time. He decided to lend it to me for a few days. I thought the beginning parts were cool, though the other times he lent it to me, I didn't get too far due to lack of motivation. I didn't start playing this game again until March of this year, where I continued from where I left off, which was Makna Forest. I took a month long break again, since I stopped at the part where you had to activate the switches to get to Prison Island, due to a high level enemy.

There was an 8 minute video presentation for X announced last month, and I was like, "Welp. looks like I have an excuse to continue the game." I was given advice to do side quests and explore the game. I thought it was boring, but I actually put effort into what I was doing and did some fun side quests and explored the world of Xenoblade Chronicles. Valak Mountain and Bionis' Leg were my favorite parts of the game to explore in. It was just so fun for me.

The story just kept getting better and better as I kept progressing, and that plot twist was so mind blowing to me. This is the first video game that had me on the verge of crying because of a couple scenes. I won't talk about it here due to massive spoiler reasons, but if you've played the game, you know what I'm talking about.

The ending was just beautiful. This is one of my favorite games of all time, and my favorite RPG ever despite me not being a big fan of them. This is a beautiful masterpiece. I love Xenoblade Chronicles, and I encourage everyone, despite the rarity and high price, or if you wanna risk buying a New Nintendo 3DS to get Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, it'll be worth all that money, I can tell you that right now. The future is ours to decide.
