Okay but think about this

Carl Hagelin and Trevor Daley were shuffled from 3 different teams in 7 months

Phil Kessel was all but run out of Toronto

Patric Hornqvist was drafted last and is now playing on a line with the guy who was drafted 1st

Conor Sheary was undrafted and is playing beside Sidney Crosby

Matt Murray was an AHL starter in March

Jeff Zatkoff went from whipping boy to Mr. Game 1

Olli Maata suffered concussions, multiple serious injuries and cancer. He’s 22.

Sidney Crosby was berated in November and treated like his career was over. He just one a Conn Smythe.

Murray, Rust, Sheary, Kuhnhackel are all rookies

The Pens went from out of the playoffs, to 2nd in their division to Stanley Cup Champions.

Some more feelings:

Matt Cullen at 39 was considered too old to be any good.

Nick Bonino was traded for the second time in two years. During the playoffs, he led the team in assists.

Evgeni Malkin became injured and people said that the Penguins didn’t need him anymore.

Marc-Andre Fleury has been blamed for “choking” every year since 2009, but he carried the team for the first half of the season and got them to a place where their late surge allowed them to clinch second in the division.

Justin Schultz was such a laughingstock in Edmonton that he was once called “the worst player in the NHL.” Among Oilers fans, his name became a moniker for fucking up - “jultzing”

Kris Letang had a stroke a year and a half ago.

The Penguins lost the first four games under Mike Sullivan and the media immediately wrote him off. The Penguins had the best record in the League for the second half of the season.
