I wonder how many families of officers resided in the Death Star.

They probably had at least a large town worth of family members of officers and troopers, not to mention the catering and sanitation staff.

And the logistics department. The people working the comms and pushing the dials. Also the electricians and welders and engineers and on-board counselors.

There were children and schools for those children and teachers in those schools, and families of those teachers.

And then Luke murdered them all.

Like I'm not saying it wasn't justified. This was a WMD that killed billions of innocents and could kill billions more.

But the movie acts like it didn't house at least several thousands innocents as well.

Like this was a pure victory of good over evil and everyone on the Death Star was a Tarkin-level sadistic despot. And not just an ordinary person lost among the millions in a giant deadly machine (both figuratively and literally)
