Speaking as someone who tries to make an effort to avoid sexual content on my blog to keep it safe for everyone, Tumblr’s new decision is complete garbage. My decision is my decision. I would never want to force the tone I maintain on anyone else’s blog.

There is no time for both-side-ism here. The debate isn’t even over, it never should have happened in the first place. The nazis killing Jews are from the same cloth that Sam Harris called “peaceful Nazis” when they confronted antifascists last year.
The people emboldened to build and send bombs to politicians, to kill POC in the open, are the same people who centrists said deserved a seat at the table and had a right to a platform. The same centrists who warned that the left was the problem, and allowed Nazis or organize.
I have not forgotten a single centrist who defended Nazis, fascists, added “anti-antifa” to their profiles, or gave platforms to these peddlers of death on their YouTube shows or podcasts. You chose your side, you decided to align with murders in order to score anti-left points

countless people have spoken out about how this sort of behavior was used to groom them and this entitled attitude needs to be rooted out of fandoms permanently.

I can’t believe this needs to be said, but the rich are not doing you a service by employing you. They require you. Everything they have is contingent on the fact that you work for them and do what they say. Without you, the rich have literally nothing. Workers have power over the entire economy.
It is actually workers doing a major service to their employers by not unionizing and not starting a revolution, since literally the only thing workers need to do to grind the entire economy to a halt is put their hands behind their back and stop working. That is it. Workers could crash the entire machine in one moment if they wanted.
Stop calling them “job creators.” They aren’t. They literally require you. But you dont require them. You are wealth creators. And you have the power to take it back whenever you want. You just have to organize.
One of the most useful insights my father ever gave me was that “your employer owes you money”. At any given moment, you have done work that your employer has not yet written you a check for. They owe you money, and you owe them nothing
The “tolerance” movement of the 90’s that told everyone “you don’t have to like or accept or respect everyone, just tolerate their existence” was a total failure, and will always be a total failure, because it did not address any base problems or issues.
Just because a man doesn’t call me a faggot to my face anymore doesn’t mean he still isn’t a homophobe that privately thinks I should be stoned to death. You’re not addressing the problem, you’re literally ignoring it. It doesn’t even mean that, privately, I still won’t get beaten or called slurs because hey it’s out of the public eye. As long as it looks like I’m being tolerated then it’s all cool right?
All it did was just move it to the shadows. Let people continue their bigotry behind closed doors so that when there wasn’t societal pressure to keep it hidden, like, say when a President is openly bigoted and shouts at rallies that “PC has gone mad and we can’t say what we think,” suddenly it’s all back in the open again. Hate crimes go up, violence and slurs and open hatred start becoming a norm again. Nazis might say lead torch lit rallies to synagogues, mosques, and black churches.
All the tolerance movement was, was a way for White cishet liberals to not have to think difficult thoughts on race, gender, sexuality, or religion. But once that veil of “tolerance” came off, suddenly they are aghast at all these bigotted people around them. Just because you didn’t want to see it or think about doesn’t make it go away. Address the real problems and maybe, in time, it finally will. You don’t heal by ignoring the disease.

Hello friends in the World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy and Other Internet Gaming or Varied Tumblr Communities! This coming weekend, Sunday, March 4th from 12 PM to 4 PM Central Time four other artists and myself will be hosting a charity art stream to raise money to help low income children get a chance to see the film Black Panther in theaters. Inspired by a call for those of us who stand allied with social justice endeavors to lend a more direct, helping hand to the communities who will be most empowered and impacted by this ground breaking film, @azriah @varae-ver-you-are @thenaaru @izzarra and I will taking $10 Headshot Commissions and Screenshot Edits with all generated funds being donated to a Lowell-based fundraiser on GoFundMe.
How does this work?
On Sunday we’ll be streaming via Picarto Multi-Stream and opening up a form for you to put your information (character references, email address, tumblr, the basics) and we’ll be plucking people from the list in the order that their request come in. You will not get to choose which artist completes your piece.
If you’re interested in donating straight out without receiving art in return, we’ll have an optional link for that, as well.
What’s this about a raffle?
In addition to our $10 art work, we’re running a $5 raffle alongside the main event to generate more donations for this cause; every $5 donated counts as a ‘ticket’ to be added to a drawing at the end of the stream, with a grand prize of one fully-completed illustration or edit commission from your (participating) artist of choice!
Why Black Panther?
Representation is everything to a child who never sees themselves in their heroes. It’s a little girl who sees that a woman on screen is just as strong as a man or that being black is an amazing thing. It’s showing that you have more to you than being a side kick or the guy that dies first in horror movies.
It’s seeing that you are more than slave movies, civil rights movies, drug dealers, gang lords and negative stereotypes. It’s witnessing royalty on a large scale that looks like you. It’s seeing that you can be a smart princess that developed the technological wonders of her kingdom and a KING that bows to no one.
Kids will see themselves as something greater than what media through the years has shown. It is important that we tell these kids that they are every much a hero as Superman, Captain America and Iron Man.
Why Lowell-based?
Selfishly, this is where I went to college, and where I taught kids in a predominantly POC high school. The actual GoFundMe goes into greater detail about the demographics of the city of Lowell, but from going to school in this city and being involved in many Design for Good campaigns through my college to aid the city itself, the average income of Lowell families is so low that city-wide schools provide free lunch for their students.
