points to remember:

  • nicki minaj was making an excellent point about how we as a society worship and promote content that excludes women who are anything except white and slim
  • she was not shading taylor. she was shading the way we think and how HER content as an artist is not given the appreciation it deserves because of that
  • taylor jumped in and made it about herself
  • she shifted the focus from the important issue nicki was bringing up to what the media will term a “feud” between the two
  • taylor using the “stop pitting women against each other” phrase was completely irrelevant and an obvious way of using feminism to deflect criticism of her
  • taylor was WRONG. being her fan does not make it okay to defend her when she is wrong
