It's really frustrating because you'll do the math and agree to go masked, but you'll get a text from your friend that says "yeah, and I've had this weird cough for a while" and suddenly all your risk calculations go out the window. This wouldn't be so hard if people actually acted in a way that would keep themselves and others safe during an ongoing pandemic.

#feeling like a burden asking people if we can eat outside at a restaurant#or god forbid asking them to mask a week or two in advance of a get together#and *you* feel like the weird one for not wanting to get sick or feeling paranoid about a deadly virus

something no one tells you about being an assistant librarian in charge of reshelving books is that you will get an insane and COMPLETELY irrational hatred of random kids' books you've never read. i dont care if geronimo stilton is the second coming of mouse jesus we should not have an entire shelf of his books. what the hell is "walter the farting dog" that sounds like a parody of a kids' book you'd see on the simpsons. who the hell is dog man and why do i have to put four of his books away every day. i have to shelf pete the cat everyday but he looks like a polite young man so he can stay but he's on fucking thin ice. i want the berenstain bears dead

#my beef is with the juvenile fiction/chapter book series that don't put the number on the spine#I have absolutely no problem with diary of a wimpy kid or dork diaries. they are sweethearts why?#THEY PUT THE SERIES NUMBER ON THE SPINE#Geronimo stilton? fucking 'jimmy' patterson? magic fairies? all garbage imo#if I have to spend more than 5 seconds determining where the book goes on the shelf in a series you have made a garbage series#library life#also picture books are good they're fine kids need early literacy and representation etc etc#but good god I hate sorting and shelving them#they're all different sizes. the labels are harder to read. people check out SO MANY of them at a time.#I'll be having a good hour on returns and suddenly the storytime crowd floods our return bin and suddenly I'm sweating#sorting through 50+ picture books and flipping through each one to make sure they're not damaged#I wish we had a limit on how many picture books can be checked out at once 😭

I stopped buying books awhile ago (though I do still indulge from time to time) but i'm still reminded of how severe my buying was because my room is literally this meme but with books
