Meet Jerome, one of the Maniax.
With the rise of the villains in “Gotham” Season 2 comes Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan), who will change the face of Gotham City forever.
Viewers only got a small dose of Jerome in Season 1, but it was enough to convince them that he’s the most likely candidate to become the Joker. Thankfully, the delightfully evil psychopath gets a lot more screen time starting with the Season 2 premiere, as can be seen in the above teaser, which is exclusive to Zap2it.
“He’s a living, ticking time bomb and he meets a man who realizes how to access that and utilize it in a way that’s extremely destructive on a more massive level than what Jerome had previously been,” Monaghan says of his character’s Season 2 motivation in a group interview. “He gets to basically throw a big party for himself, a big murderous party.”
While everyone is invited to that party, there’s one special guest Jerome can’t wait to reunite with and that’s Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie).
“Jim is representative of a greater idea of law and order and everything Jerome is resents and rebel against,” Monaghan says. “I think he wants to use him to demonstrate to the rest of the city exactly how he feels.”
That doesn’t bode well for Gordon or Gotham City.
“Gotham” returns Monday (Sept. 21) at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
