Karbala, Iraq

This land has such a grasp on one that they’ll crave returning the second they step foot outside its soil. You can name many forces in this world; however, the force that stems from the love of Hussain cannot be matched. May Allah provide all who wish, the opportunity to visit this heaven on Earth.

More than any political leader in the region, I was attached to him for this sole reason; his ideologies are so relevant to me. There were always people who have been against the Bahr*aini Revolution while supporting the Syrian Revolution, and vice versa. I had to deal with all of them, it was (still is) disgusting and disheartening. Rest in power, you won’t be forgotten.

in the words of Amnesty International: “The execution of Sheikh Nimr Baqir al-Nimr is part of a campaign by the authorities in Saudi Arabia to crush all dissent, including those defending the rights of the Kingdom’s Shia Muslim community. Evidence for all the other charges he was convicted of came from religious sermons and interviews attributed to the cleric. Amnesty International’s review of these texts confirms that he was exercising his right to free expression and was not inciting violence. Some of the charges, such as disobeying the ruler, should not be offences as they criminalize the right to freedom of expression. Other charges are vague and have been used simply to punish him for his peaceful activities. Sheikh al-Nimr’s trial has been seriously flawed. Eyewitnesses, whose testimonies were the only evidence used against him, were not brought to court to testify. This violates the country’s own laws. The Sheikh was denied the most basic means to prepare for his defence and was not represented by legal counsel for some of the proceedings because the authorities did not inform his lawyer of some dates of the hearings.” [x]

RIP Sheikh Nimr Al-Nimr. he was one of the most prominent voices in the region and his torture and execution will probably cause another wave of mass protests in the region, especially amidst high tensions arising from the recent ISIS attacks.

What was so inspiring about Sheikh Nimr’s attempts to reach out to the Sunni world and show he & his followers harbored no hatred for them is that he did all of this without ever hiding his beliefs - he openly spoke about the most controversial of his beliefs, he felt no shame. He represented a section of the Shia which truly believes the beliefs of both sects don’t necessitate animosity and violence, as opposed to another section of the Shia which is apologetic for its beliefs, pass fatawa that have no historical basis, and speak of unity in public but only have harsh words to offer in private.

The execution of Sheikh Nimr is indicative of the lengths a corrupt, unjust and wholly destructive empire will go to silence any kind of call for justice or responsibility. Sheikh Nimr was killed today at the hands of a nation that thrives on international terrorism and the persecution of Shias and minority sect Muslims across the globe. Remember today as the moment a kingdom renowned for exporting mass murder committed an act of terrorism on its own soil and to one of its own citizens.

The blood of Imam Al-Hussain has been spilt once again but as the blood of Hussain caused the rise of the truth from the east to the west and caused the Ummayid empire to perish. … The blood of Sheikh Nimr Al-Nimr will cause a rise in the ummah and a downfall and eradication of the tyrannical reign of the Al-Saud family. … It happened with the late martyred Sayed Mohammed Baqir Al-Sadr when Saddam executed him. It happened with Sayed Musa Al-Sadr with Gaddafi and many of those before them and those that will come after them. Verily our dignity and honour is with martyrdom.

Saudi you had your warnings, it’s too late now… #sheikhnimr #saudiarabia #saudi #itstoolatenow #youwerewarned #shia #islam #oppresion #thehussainofourtime #freedom - is what will fight for now, and always will… #💭💭💭

Sheikh Al-Nimr has been martyred along with 47 other shias at the hands of the vile Saudi Government. May the message of Imam Husain (as) resonate loudly, in word and action, and may the blood of our martyrs continue to be humankind’s liberation from the Yazid of today.

Imam al-Sadiq (as) said, ‘Winter is the springtime of the believer - its nights are long, so he can make use of them to stand in prayer, whereas its days are short so he can make use of them to fast.’

my favorite ayah in the Holy Quran

“Perhaps you hate a thing that is best for you, and you love a thing that is bad for you. Allah knows, while you know not.” [Sûrah al-Baqarah: 216]

Blow away the dust from His book and take out your prayer mat from the corner of your room. Read what is meant to be a remedy and prostrate where peace thrives. The reason for your rusted heart lays in the abandonment of The One in Whose Hands its life is.
