Men fall back on “you deserve more/ you’re better than me” when they’re confronted by transformation and by a dynamic person who is prompting them to confronting their humanity but are too cowardly to traverse that And it’s acceptable to say something as empty as that because 1. It enforces the role of Woman as Divine - stripping us of our humanity by elevating our status to Unattainable by virtue 2. It removes any accountability frm the man’s part, it effectively shifts the “blame” onto the woman, that the enigmatic deficiency is in the woman’s possession alone 3. Reinforces masculine deficiency. They can continue navigating relationships and friendships and interactions shallowly and incidentally. The entire life cycle of patriarchal masculine identity is engineered to keep men spiritually and emotionally paralyzed and mutilated, but it is packaged as strength or liberation. The irony is there is such a deep fear of castration and that manifests as panic and fleeing when they encounter dynamism and transformation and love etc - but the real castration lies in these deeply lacking and static relationships and bonds that are formed instead . I think that what our society teaches young girls, and I think it’s also something that’s quite difficult for even older women and self-professed feminists to shrug off, is that idea that likability is an essential part of you, of the space you occupy in the world, that you’re supposed to twist yourself into shapes to make yourself likable, that you’re supposed to hold back sometimes, pull back, don’t quite say, don’t be too pushy, because you have to be likable.
And I say that’s bullshit.
So what I want to say to young girls is forget about likability. If you start thinking about being likable you are not going to tell your story honestly, because you are going to be so concerned with not offending, and that’s going to ruin your story, so forget about likability. And also the world is such a wonderful, diverse, and multifaceted place that there’s somebody who’s going to like you; you don’t need to twist yourself into shapes.

I just happen to be doing extended research on this topic and yes, video games are linked to ADHD…in that they are being considered useful teaching and therapeutic tools for people with ADD, ADHD, and ASD because they’re “intrinsically motivating” and help with “social skills, fine motor skills, language skills, reading and writing, and critical thinking”! In fact, they’re theorizing that video games help make these people more social with their peers, not less. (x) Pretty neat!

aries: probably the hardest working and also the best procrastinator. they have no filter. will drop everything to help you. has the wildest almost unbelievable stories and evidence in case you don't believe them. can make you smile even when you feel like shit.
taurus: the biggest romantic with the biggest heart. you don't think they care about you? they do. fuzzy blanket enthusiast. no matter how busy they are, how much work they have to do, if you need to talk, they're there. they won't share unless you ask. always watching a new tv show.
gemini: probably knows the scientific explanation behind that. not two faced contrary to popular belief, but is just so goddamn charming they can get along with various types of people. will literally wallow in their negative emotions until they burst. humour is their best defense mechanism.
cancer: will call you out if you act stupid. wants you to remember all the good times you've had with them because they're scared you'll forget and leave them behind. willing to drive for hours to get some really good food.
leo: has the courage to say the things that everyone else was too afraid to say. can be sobbing one second and making jokes the next. has the most random things on their wall, but in an organized way. will drive to your house at midnight because they wanted to be with you.
virgo: their room is actually a mess most of the time. likes to avoid their problems a lot. but once forced to deal with them, it didn't even seem like they were struggling at all. more of a listener. often has flashbacks of dumb things they've said.

- she was simultaneously a straight-a student in school while being viciously bullied for her heritage + size and punished by her parents for getting into fights. i mean, even without the straight a’s, she was strong and endured feeling isolated at home and at school.
- she’s a fellow rape survivor — “Walking home from school at the age of nine she was gang raped by five men. According to Satana, her attackers were never prosecuted and it was rumored that the judge had been paid off. - after being shot by a former lover and staying in a hospital, she decided to study nursing and she did just that. she even briefly worked as the dispatcher for the lapd.
tura satana passed away on 2/4/2011, but she’s still amazing and one of my inspirations as a woc, especially as a mixed-race asian rape survivor struggling to embrace my sexuality. <3 and that’s why i’m giving her her own day! just who she was makes me feel good about me.
