Perseverance. دأب // Jacob.
After the altercation with Malcolm, and a combination of his past offences, it was clear that Jacob was doing more harm than good. After discovering that Jacob had also been infected with Maniro, the staff were worried what that might lead to. He was known to react badly, violently, to news, and they all had their hands full as it was. He had become a threat to not only himself, but to others as well... and he was going to take more time and help than what the staff at Serenity could provide for the young man, especially with being a veteran. Seeing that Serenity was a place for children and young adults, being in the army was an anomaly that no one there could fully understand. While they could help with PTSD, it was the reason behind it that made it difficult.
After careful consideration, Jacob was released from Serenity and placed in a care facility for ex-army men who suffered from trauma, with a recommendation from none other than Jack Emerson. It took 3 years before Jacob was finally discharged. Afterwards, he called Jack, and apologized and thanked him for everything he had done.
Nothing would ever be normal again, he knew that much. But hopefully, life would become easier, and he’d be able to start again. He moved back to North Carolina, and stayed with his mom for a little while. The two became extremely close, and everything was beginning to look up. She remarried that year, and by now Jacob had gotten over everything that had happened with his dad, Trevor, and Trevor’s dad. Trevor eventually recovered from his own issues, but chose to stay on the west coast. He did keep in touch with his family, though.
He had never formally gone to college, but with everything he had endured, now was as good as a time as ever. He started school at the University of North Carolina. He’s not sure what he’s going to do yet -maybe psychology?- but thanks to the support of his friends and family, Jacob knows he’ll figure it all out eventually.
