I’m kinda surprised that in the middle of the BLM movement and all the anti-racism talk I haven’t seen more people talking about the Neymar situation.

Last night during a match, Neymar was called a “monkey son of a bitch” by a white Spanish player, Alvaro Gonzalez (he plays for French team Olympique de Marseille). Neymar slapped him and HE was kicked out of the game, not Alvaro.

UEFA and FIFA are silent. PSG (Neymar’s team) is silent. A good portion of Neymar’s teammates are silent. Olympique de Marseille is silent. The only person who has said anything is Alvaro, who had the nerve to post a picture with black teammates because ya know, how can he be racist if he is on the same team as black men?

Enough is enough. It’s time to start holding these players accountable and to stop enabling this behavior. If this white footballer referred to one of the biggest, richest players in the world like that imagine what happens behind closed doors

john boyega being honest about the racism of disney star wars in his GQ cover story is so important and unbelievably brave for him to do. disney could easily blacklist him for his comments and have done so to others over less- we gotta make sure we support him, his career, and message as much as possible. he could potentially get so much industry retaliation from speaking truth to power like this

FUCK the mouse and fuck how they treated john boyega- it is racism. believe him and don’t be quiet about it.

I’m thinking a lot about how there was an internet joke for a while that Chadwick Boseman was getting sick of doing “Wakanda forever” bc he occasionally looked tired or unenthused in pics. Knowing now how much he was suffering through and how tired he must have been, I’m thinking about those pictures again. He really continued to bring people happiness and make art through cancer diagnosis and treatment. Celebrity deaths are so strange and it’s always a unique sadness and I never feel quite entitled to my sadness. Like, I didn’t know him. But he brought me a lot of joy and I just want to acknowledge that. Wishing him and his family peace
