what do you mean other people can find things just fine when the other person gives them vague instructions like "it's over there"? what do you mean they don't go "over there" and stand, looking around, hoping to find it before the other person becomes impatient with them for not knowing where it might be?

Violet Starling (Cinnyricinclus leucogaster) with feather detail. Iridescence in bird feathers is due to microstructures of the feather refracting light like a prism. Fossil evidence has shown that birds have had these structures in their feathers for at least 40 million years.

@agenderspock THIS BIRD IS THE BEST ?????????

Maybe ‘Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?’ isn’t a show that displays how stupid grown adults can be, but rather, a show that depicts how much useless information we teach grade schoolers that won’t be retained or applicable later in life.

Handedness of Movieverse Avengers, because this is a Thing I think about:

[This blog is spoiler-free until the end of May.]

This entire post, of course, could be completely off and I’m just guessing the handedness of celebrities. But I was curious because I’m left-handed and I like seeing other left-handed characters. It’s a tiny thing, not important, but so many people are right-handed that it’s overlooked a lot and just assumed that a character will be right handed. It’s fun to me to see some lefties.

Captain America: Right-handed. Holds shield on left arm to keep right free.

Iron Man: Contradictory sources. Two different poster art poses where he is holding up one repulsor. In one, it is his right, in the other, his left.

Chances are either one photo is mirrored or no one cared.

In Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes series, he creates a shield and in an emergency, wields it on his left arm, suggesting either a) right-handedness or b) no knowledge of how holding a shield works.

As a note, his armor has a form of targeting system, and the crosshairs are over his left eye:

suggesting left-eye dominance, which does not affect handedness, but it was interesting to note. Often people believe there is a connection, which may mean that since it was made this way, in the movies the special effects team knows him to be canonically left-handed. But that is speculation. After all, Robert Downey, Jr. is right-handed, and in the movie he does pour drinks right-handed. But this does not require extreme skill, and thus does not provide strong evidence towards handedness.

[Also, that is a fabulous face and a wonderful screencap :D]

However, I will guess that he is left-handed for one reason: in the first movie, when he is working on one repulsor,

he is working on the right-hand repulsor, and is seen using a screwdriver on it with his left. I am left-handed, and using a screwdriver with my right is downright irritating if not impossible, and when I worked on my blades for my Assassin’s Creed costume, I tested on my right hand. It’s flimsy evidence, but pouring-drink preference is even more flimsy.

Bruce Banner: Unknown. Seriously, I could get nothing on this guy. And I think the Hulk just uses the closest hand to Smash.

Black Widow: Not sure. But earpiece is on right ear. Official poster has her holding a gun in her right

but she shoots with both just fine. I’d put money on her being ambidextrous as part of spy training.

Hawkeye: Left! Holds bow with right, looses arrows with left. Though this could be because Jeremy Renner is left-handed, as I have heard he is ambidextrous in the comics as well, which would make sense because his superpower seems to be incredible aim. Would be a silly superpower if it only worked with one arm.

Thor: Right. Carries hammer predominantly in right hand. If in left, is also in right and about to bash something really hard. Also calls it with his right hand.

I can think of exactly one exception to this rule, during his first scene in Avengers. And it was kinda important that he have his good hand free.

Is Blue Is The Warmest Color any good because I want to watch a movie with a blue haired gay girl

the graphic novel is rly great, and the movie itself i’ve heard good things about but the director was a creep.

trying to find that one post where y’all speculate about Finn realizing he needs to provide a surname, and he just goes with “Dameron” because that’s the first one which comes to mind (none of his old friends had surnames or even names beyond their official designations, and he can’t remember that much of his family)

and Rey is like “yeah solid choice, makes sense, I like the sound of it” because Rey is a feral desert child and doesn’t know any better

and of course Poe is charmed, and is like “sure I am happy to provide jackets, surnames, my elite piloting skills, my hand in marriage: anything for my friends”

and idk at some point, someone is like “okay Rey do you have any other name, what’s with the mononym shit” and she’s like “uhhhhh DAMERON” because really if it works for Finn, it can work for her

and the long and short of it is: they see nothing unusual in this and completely miss any implications, and eventually this nonsense gets back to the Resistance fighters and Poe’s entire squadron smirks at him for days

Poe: What's up, buddy- you okay?
Finn, lost in thought: It's just...I still don't-I don't have a last name.
Poe: ...
Poe, gets down on one knee: Do you... do you want mine?
