A series of Yu-Gi-Oh Vogue covers I’ve been working on for ages.

Yu-Gi-Oh was a really huge part of my young adulthood and basically the reason I started drawing. So it was fun to come back and draw them at a higher skill level and figure out how I could draw them with normal human eyes and noses.

Also, all of Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters is on Hulu, so just watch it.

In order: Yami/Pharoh Atem, Ishizu Ishtar, Ryou Bakura and Seto Kaiba.

A transparent sound, mapping distraction.

New/old piece. It’s been sitting nearly finished in my draft folder for going on a year now, and I’ve kept picking at it over and over again. So I finally decided to just do something about it, just to get it out of my system!

(I need to work more on lighting. It’s fun and excruciatingly aggravating.)

((Also, Tumblr makes it all gross and blurry, so high res that puppy!))

I redid this piece for my website.

I’ve never really liked this piece, and I think it was because it was too messy in my old style, so I cleaned it up and made it more relevant to the work I do now. I like it a lot more now. C:

6. Pulsar

The Pulsar was a Star who fell in love with a distant Emission Nebula. But she was cruel, and only wished to be surrounded by strong Stars who would show off her colors. Deeming him too inadequate to be close to her, she shunned him to the far reaches of the Universe.

But the Star continued to love her so he decided to dedicate his life to watching her from afar for eternity, hoping that she would one day accept and embrace him. But death had to come, as it came to all Stars, and as Gravity curled around him, nipping at his heels, he poured molten iron over his body, shielding himself from their bites. Eventually Gravity fled, unable to capture him, and he was able to remain there, cold and alone coated in a metal shell. His iron armor, however, was dark amongst the black sky, and he realized his love could never find him, or know that he was there waiting for her. So he plunged a spear through his aching heart and a fantastic light burst from his iron skin in constant thuds, his heart beating brighter than any Star. As the winds carried him through the empty space, the light of his beating heart poured from his skin, wanting and waiting for his love to take notice.

5. Supernova

Once, there was a pair of Stars, twins, born from the same Nebula. This Nebula saw them as two perfect creations and spoiled them, giving them anything they desired. When they reached a certain age, they were given the task to build and protect a whirlpool of energy, a center of mass with an unknown purpose. When they were young, they thought nothing of it, playing and running, circling the center of the whirlpool effortlessly, laughing with each other. But as they grew, they became more fascinated with the whirlpool, and what lay within. When they asked their Nebula what was inside, she answered, “It is a gift.” And so their curiosity consumed them. Perhaps the gift was a treasure, or a new world, an object of power. Whatever it was, they realized, could not belong to the other, for each wanted to claim it for their own. The spoiled children became so desperate to achieve it before the other, they began to resent each other. But neither could take the gift, because they were both equally matched, in speed and in strength, and they would kill each other if the other attempted to take it. As her brother slept, one of the twins developed a plan to steal away his energy while he was defenseless. But the intense power that she took from him wrapped around her violently, driving her mad. Her brother awoke, and tried to persuade her to stop, but her mind had distilled into rage. Unable to contain it, she erupted in a mass of compressed energy, destroying her brother and leaving the whirlpool with no attendance. The gift, the Nebula wanted to tell them, was their love for each other.
