Do NOT buy the Heartsong Paperback from Amazon on Sep 24th

If you don’t know what’s going on, TJ Klune has requested the rights back for all his books previously published by Dreamspinner Press and they’re being taken down from all sites so he can republish them. Because of this process, the release date for Heartsong has been moved from September 24th to October 22nd. For some reason, DSP has failed to take down the paperback from Amazon and that’s why it’s still up for preorder and scheduled to be released tomorrow on Sep 24th despite them no longer having the rights to publish it. Profits from buying this paperback will go to DSP first before ever reaching TJ. DSP has been known to retain payments from their authors and despite their claims it is not ensured that TJ will receive his earnings from this title, which is why he is asking people not to buy the paperback on Amazon.

I know everyone is dying to read Heartsong but out of respect for TJ and the hard work he poured into this book and making sure we get the book as soon as possible despite all the setbacks and hard decisions, please support the actual release of Heartsong on October 22nd. Support TJ by preordering Heartsong (Ebook version only) on Amazon for $5.99

We need to talk about Mental Health

Male suicide and mental health is a big issue that can’t be ignored any longer. It’s unacceptable that so many men are dying from suicide on a daily basis, yet so few people are talking about it.

In 2017 there were 6,213 suicides in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

The highest suicide rate was found between men aged 45 to 49.

My brother was only 23.

It didn’t feel real. It still doesn’t.

But it happened. And it will continue to happen for many families.

My brother’s life has profoundly impacted all those who knew him. I just wish he knew how many people were willing to give everything for him, so many people would drop everything to help and support him.

Whenever a man takes his own life it’s always followed by an outpouring of shock from those around him. “He seemed so happy all the time” “I never knew how depressed he was”.

That is quickly followed by, “What could I have done?” , “Could I of stopped it?” , “What if…?”. There are so many questions that will never be answered when someone takes their own life.

But it all comes back to: how can a person feel so much pain that they feel the need to end their own life?

All I know is that I don’t want anyone to go through what my brother went through or what my family is going through now.

It’s time to go beyond the front put up by so many of us in this ever-changing world. It’s time to break taboo and ask and tell how we’re all really feeling. It’s okay to not be okay.

We accept “okay”, “alright” and “fine” as positive responses to the most simple of questions, but it’s not enough. We should all open up. Let’s put an end to the stigma.

Call 0800 58 58 58 – 5pm to midnight every day

Samaritans – for everyone

Call 116 123

Talk to someone you trust:

Let family or friends know what’s going on for you. They may be able to offer support and help keep you safe.

There’s no right or wrong way to talk about suicidal feelings – starting the conversation is what’s important.

Who else you can talk to:

If you find it difficult to talk to someone you know, you could:

call your GP – ask for an emergency appointment

call 111 out of hours – they will help you find the support and help you need

contact your mental health crisis team – if you have one

Tips for coping right now:

try not to think about the future – just focus on getting through today

stay away from drugs and alcohol

get yourself to a safe place, like a friend’s house

be around other people

do something you usually enjoy, such as spending time with a pet

Worried about someone else?:

If you’re worried about someone, try to get them to talk to you. Ask open-ended questions like: “How do you feel about…?”

Don’t worry about having the answers. Just listening to what someone has to say and taking it seriously can be more helpful.

See Samaritans’ tips on how to start a difficult conversation.

some guy: brings you flowers

alucard emery: gives up four years of his life to buy a magic mirror that’ll show you, in front of your brother and several other people, the objective truth of how he was beaten half to death by his own father for loving you and forced to leave against his will so that you’ll understand just how much he still loves you

Rhy and Alucard from the Shades of Magic series. Ouch my heart!

Happy Pride Month, cutie pies! My fanart is mostly of canon LGBTQA+ book characters in general, but I’ll try to step it up, and make sure I cover the whole community, and the awesome characters that represent them adequately. So excited!
