Love (Yellow) Birds

Happy Valentines Day – We Love YOU!

We wanted to offer you some of our favourite indie love songs for you to play over a candle lit dinner, or to sit alone in your bedroom (both equally as valid).

Alt-J- Every Other Freckle

You’re the first and last of your kind.

Biffy Clyro – Many Of Horror

I still believe, it’s you and me ’til the end of time.

Florence And The Machine – Cosmic Love

Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too, so I stayed in the darkness with you.

  Babybird – You’re Gorgeous

Because you’re gorgeous, I’d do anything for you.

  Smashing Pumpkins – Tonight Tonight

Believe in me as I believe in you, tonight.

  Arctic Monkeys – R U Mine?

I just wanna hear you say you got me baby, are you mine?

It wouldn’t be a valentines playlist without this classic! Oasis – Wonderwall

Maybe you’re gonna be the one that saves me.

  We could go on…

This final one goes out to all the singletons

The Streets – Dry Your Eyes

There’s plenty more fish in the sea.

Animal Collective Join The Collection.

Trekstock teamed up with David, Noah, Josh and Brian for this one back in 2012.  We can’t get enough of this colourful blast, so its only right we got this back for the Yellow Bird Project.

Animal Collective are an experimental pop band from Baltimore. Their extensive discography comes from contributions of all its members, who met at school and started making music together from a young age. They didn’t officially become a band until their first album ‘Here Comes The Indian’ back in 2003. Their most successful album ‘Merriweather Post Pavillion’ was called “one of the landmark American albums of the century so far” by Uncut magazine.

We are so happy to have them in the Yellow Bird crew with their crazy addition to the collection.

Bringing in Bastille

The boys in Bastille have been longtime supporters of Trekstock‘s work supporting young adults with cancer getting involved in various projects, so it’s totally fab to introduce them to you YBP folk too…

Bastille are one of the UK’s hottest indie bands, forming back into 2010 they’ve risen to success with their latest album ‘Wild World’ hitting the #1 spot in the UK chart. The boys started out by independently releasing their EP, before being signed to Virgin Records. With two #1 albums under their belt, this band are only getting bigger and better!

With the awesome help of the Studio Moross team, we’ve had this mysterious navy nighttime scene printed onto a classic white tee. Pretty cool eh?

Take a listen to a couple of our favourite Bastille tracks.

Something Good ∆

Alt-J are now part of the Yellow Bird crew!

alt-J or ∆ formed after becoming friends at Leeds Uni back in 2007. They rose to fame after the incredible success of their Mercury Prize debut album, ‘An Awesome Wave’. Their second album ‘This Is All Yours’ went straight to #1 in the UK, and received a Grammy nomination. They have toured all around the world, perfecting their enchanting live set and selling out the iconic Madison Square Gardens in 2015. We can’t wait for the next album!

As we know from their track “Tesselate”, triangles are their favourite shape, and so this is reflected in their cool 3D design.

Fall in love with The Maccabees (again)

Hello hello,

We hope you’ve all had a chance to admire the fantastic new additions to the project. It’s such a delight to have The Maccabees onboard – they’ve been long term friends of Trekstock, so we couldn’t wait to let them know about the history of YBP and how we’ve got involved.

Although the band have sadly moved on to new exciting solo projects this year, we’ve collected up some of our favourite tunes from the bands 10 year run, to share with you lot…

Early days… The Smoker!

Moving a little further forward… She’s got x-ray vision!

Probably the ultimate Macca’s track for many a fan. First Love.

Love You Better. My personal favourite.

This list could go on a while…

Better wrap it up with two sure-fire classics to remember one of the greatest indie rock bands to grace our ears. Go check their tee.

Purity Ring join the Yellow Bird family

This unique design has come straight from the hands of the super talented Corin and Megan who are better known as Purity Ring.

After establishing a relationship at Field Day festival, the duo are helping raise money for Trekstock, to quote Corin “They are a rad organisation”.

Purity Ring arrived back in 2011, when the Corin and Megan came together to release their acclaimed first track “Ungirthed“. Their distinct, chilly R&B sound has found them fans across the world and seen them sign to 4AD Records. Their debut album, Shrines was released in July 2012, and the following year they collaborated with none other than Danny Brown for the track “25 Bucks“. Their second studio album, Another Entity was released in 2015.

Local Natives... Aghh!

So pleased to welcome an all time favourite that’s been a long time coming… None other than Local Natives!

The boys created this monster of a design, quite literally. Some might call it scary, others might simply find themselves feeling a little hungry…

Ryan, Taylor, Kelsey, Andy and Matt released their much anticipated album ‘Sunlit Youth’ on the September 9th and we’re already loving it, get your hands on it here.

New t-shirt from John Grant

It is our privilege to announce the newest addition to the YBP t-shirt family, from the one and only John Grant.

The t-shirt, designed by Toby Triumph, bears an illustrated portrait of John himself, holding an owl with the phrase: ALL BETS ARE OFF written underneath.

The aforementioned phrase is a lyric from the chorus of his new single, ‘Grey Tickles, Black Pressure‘, where he sings: “There are children who have cancer… so all bets are off.”

Proceeds from this tee will benefit the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – a facility that has literally changed the way the world treats children with cancer and other diseases.

We've Got a Record Deal!

Hey hey,

We have amazing excitement in our bones, so we’re here to share. Our long awaited covers album, GOOD PEOPLE ROCK, is now officially being released on April 14th by Dan Mangan’s boutique label, Madic Records (part of the Arts & Crafts family). You can pre-order the album today in vinyl and digital download formats (we recommend the vinyl, but hey – it’s up to you!). Check it out here.

GOOD PEOPLE ROCK is a collaborative album like no other. Covers of YBP artists mixed and recorded by other YBP artists, including Andrew Bird, Alec Ounsworth (of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah), Dan Mangan, Elvis Perkins, Hayden, Micah P. Hinson, Keaton Henson, King Creosote and more.  It really is as good as it sounds. Until you hear it, then it’s infinities times better. Give it a spin.

New "Shark Week" tee from CHVRCHES

Check out our latest t-shirt design from CHVRCHES. Here’s the story, according to the band, of how this tee came to be:

The idea for this design is an easy one to explain. In the early days of the band… we came up with the hare-brained idea that we were going to play a few warm-up shows under a pseudonym… “Shark Week”. In the end we chose not to go with that name because we would probably have gotten sued by a popular television channel but also because it sounded a bit fierce, a bit loaded. Chvrches was more universal, bigger sounding, more of a blank canvas, so that’s what we went for in the end. This t-shirt design is a tribute to the electronic pop outfit whose career was very short lived indeed. Just three short but sweet shows in their home territory.

Note: as a Black Friday / Cyber Monday spesh, we’re offering FREE SHIPPING for all North American customers – from now until Monday only!

New t-shirt from Tokyo Police Club

Everything just got cooler since Tokyo Police Club strode into our lives. Not ones to miss an opportunity for shoulder rubbing with the cool kids, the fine lads from Ontario have created for us the latest in the YBP line-up of heart-on-your-shirt designs with proceeds of the shirt heading to Canadian Women in Science and Technology (SCWIST), which is a non-profit association that promotes, encourages and empowers women and girls in science, engineering and technology.
