Game development log for Animagic, an action-adventure rpg about animation and magic
Avatar

Hey and welcome to all my new (and old) followers!

Sorry for disappearing for such a long time, but...

Unfortunately, I’ve shelved Animagic because I’m in my final year of uni and it’s gonna get hectic. Thank you for your support over the past couple months, it was lots of fun doing something I loved with you guys cheering me on.

I don’t know yet if I will be resuming development of Animagic when I graduate at the end of the year, but if you want to keep up with what I’m doing in the meantime follow me on my animation (and everything else) blog here.

Yeyyyy all the best you guys

Big update dump!

Development is going well and I'm hoping to release a playable demo soon.

I've added savepoints, new sprites, new npcs, a few puzzles ALL IS WELL and I'll try to refrain from randomly releasing spoilers

I will probably be posting less frequently now as I debug and do minor fixes but feel free to drop a message or ask or anything to validate my existence

Also, we now have a great original soundtrack courtesy of @stijnidek!

I made a quick album cover based off those retro laser discs that my grandparents used to have lol

It's great to know that music has been taken care of, but there is still lots to do in the audio department (eg. sound effects aaaaaa)

Ps. I will get around to making the pushable block tutorial someday

Dear RPG Maker Community

As a Veteran of the RPG Maker series I ask for your opinions Is MV worth it ?

Yes for the higher resolution, bigger sprites/tiles AND ABOVE ALL ELSE the freedom to port to pretty much anywhere! I haven't actually tested that but i've heard good things and what you see on the internet is definitely true of course always

The only drawback i guess is that it doesn't have as many plugins available yet because it's relatively new, so if you absolutely must have an Action Battle System or some other fancy script you'll have to wait for a bit or write it yourself yeyyy

Animagic Devlog was created on 12 Dec.

Today, exactly one month from that date we’ve hit 50 followers!

Not a huge number but it’s a nice milestone. I’d love to give you guys some incredible reward but I literally have nothing to give I’m just a sad student

What does your workspace look like, indie gamedevs?

Having a super slow and boring day so I thought I’d share my workspace!

I usually work off my Cintiq and my laptop acts as a secondary display to watch videos, playtest etc and I have a bluetooth keyboard because I’m too lazy to stretch an extra 20cm

this is my desk
