edaki14 @ dA - Shady artist/Stolen money
Hello, I really didn’t want for it to escalate to having to go public with this. I much rather talked this out privately but I was blocked by edaki14.
I want to start by saying that I already filed a paypal claim. However this journal’s purpose is to spread awareness of :devedaki14:‘s unprofessional and shady behavior and to warn users from using any sort of middleman.
Please send money to an artist directly if possible. Anyway, I thought this information would be useful for anyone who considers buying/commissioning them so that they don’t go through what I had to today. (July 24, 2015)
To get to the point immediately, I bought two adopts from :devedaki14: and you can see the adopt page and screencaps of the notes that show proof of purchase below:
They state their paypal account which is censored. But in the screencap below, this paypal apparently does not belong to edaki14 but instead it belongs to their friend.
I will admit that the complication arises behalf for making a simple mistake. I accidentally sent $20USD instead of $10USD, proof right here:
I sent them a note asking to have the $10 back, which I believe is fair. $10 was the price we had both agreed on. But what happens afterwards really bothered me. edaki14’s apathy towards the whole situation and how they are just unable to help me really rubbed me the wrong way. I still cannot understand why her friend would believe she has that decision when she is only the middle man holding edaki14’s money and my rightful $10.
I cannot completely fault edaki14, for they did try and offer me compensation for the $10 in the form of a commission. But because I had only wanted to purchase the adopts and had no interest in a comm, it defeats the purpose and my money would still be in a place I did not intend for it to go.
After this conversation, edaki14 blocked me. It doesn’t sit right with me for her to hide behind her friend’s words saying “Sorry, there’s nothing I can do."
Right now, I am waiting for paypal to get back to me.
Like, this entire situation doesn’t seem like a big deal because it’s only $10 but honestly picture someone who went to the store and gave the cashier a $20 and the cashier put it in the cash register and then they’re like "Well it’s the stores money now like I cant do anything, it’s locked in the register its your fault you gave it to me.”
but again I hope publishing my mistake and edaki14’s behavior will prevent others from this type of inconvenience!
