as a fanfic writer, the best thing you can do for yourself is invest in the stories you want to read. don’t think about what will get popular, because it will make you miserable. write about what means the most to you. if you want to write pure smut, do it. if you want to make intricate worlds and complex characters, do it. write and write and write. contrary to popular belief, good art does not have to make you suffer. all my very best work is the stuff that i enjoyed writing

I think the most hateful thing that you, as a creator, can do towards one of your own characters is confirm their favorite food, because it’ll cause irreparable brain damage to fanartists and it’s all they’ll ever reduce the character to.

More Cullavellan Headcanons

Lavellan has a tendency to steal his cape/mantle, stating it's cozy and smells like him. He's given up trying to stop her.
Cullen is a living heater. He's never bothered by the cold. The Inquisitor loves cuddling him on cold nights.
When they found her after Haven, he wrapped her in his cape to keep her warm.
Lavellan can get very protective when she senses he's uncomfortable. She nearly killed those nobles at the Winter Palace, especially the one who touched his butt.
Cullen is a huge history nerd. Especially Ferelden and Templar History.
When Lavellan finds Templar artifacts or unique Templar weapons on her adventures, she brings them to him, partially to learn about them and partially to watch him geek out (she thinks it's adorable)
They sometimes dance together in private. He's getting better at it.
