“The best sister! You’re spoiling me right now~”

Busy, but safe. He was glad to hear the stuff that was keeping her wasn’t putting her life at risk. It was an odd fear with how strong she was with her Chaos Energy and regular attacks, but he was allowed to worry, right?

“How is everyone doing over there? We should eat these together and talk about everything that’s happened in the last few months, and leave nothing out! Unless you’re in a rush or something?”

“Nah, you haven’t seen me spoil someone, bro!”

Of course, she was also planning on spoiling him anyway. There was a second gift in her bag for him, but Rebecca wanted to keep that as a surprise.

“Everyone’s doin’ pretty good! And nah, I’m not in a rush. I emptied today just t’come see ya! I’ve been learnin’ a bunch of new stuff to cook, so ya better get ready to be spoiled, dude.”

Yosuke was allowed to worry about her, and she appreciated it more than anything.

Rebecca let out a happy squeak, hugging her brother tight.

“I’ve actually been busy with the garden and keepin’ it from dyin’ this winter, plus the kids, so I hadn’t had a chance to pop in. And you bet I’ve got some more cookies! The hell kinda sister d’ya think I am?”

The hybrid pulled out a tin of cookies from her bag. Unlike the last one, this tin was rather large, and she looked incredibly proud of her work this time.

Unlocking Potential

“Sonic the Hedgehog…? You mean like the one in the video games?”

He didn’t know how he should react to that piece of information. It was startling, sure, but the multiverse seemed to be all over the place. It might not be that surprising that he DID actually exist somewhere.

“But yeah! It’ll be a blast. We just have to wait for the next year.”

Her squeeze reminded him that he was still being watched over in this dark world, and it made him let out a short sigh of relief.

“Personal heater? That sounds pretty nice. Though, I’m shocked that water’s rare. Does that mean I’m cool or something?”

“Video what? I guess so?”

Huh, so Yosuke did know her brother, but through something his world made. Videos were shown on a screen and games were played... Oh! Games played on a screen! How interesting.

“Haha, yeah. I could probably come up with something cool for a costume. Probably nothing bloody though.”

Rebecca smiled to herself, flaring her energy in a happy manner as they walked. Then she let out a snort before breaking into full on laughter. That was the best pun she had ever heard-!

“We-hehe-ll, it’s only rare outside of echidnas cause they’re closer to Chaos himself than everyone else. The shrine for him is in the middle of echidna society, so he influences their element. According to my research, someone’s element depends on both someone’s parents, and their environment.

But sometimes it ends up being really random, like mine. I grew up in a giant forest in a hut, fire really was a bad idea there unless y’had a fireplace.”

Chat shook his head.

Image

“Don’t be. As I’ve said, it’s not your fault, being out of control…isn’t nice.” He ended up bringing her in for a hug, his stomach still hurt, bt he didn’t really care.

“As long as you can move forward from what’s happened, now you have a better understanding of what’s happening, that’s all that matters right now.” It looks like he may need her help anyway…

Rebecca nearly flinched away before very gently wrapping her arms around the other, timidly holding onto Chat and quietly apologizing.

Image

“I... L-Lemme at least get you an ice pack for that or somethin’... I know that must hurt...”

Her voice was quiet as her hands carefully pushed against his shoulders. She needed to keep away from him and find an ice pack before whatever bruising she was sure was there would swell too badly..

Avatar

Chat jumped at her punch, he had to wonder if she was alright, then it showed that she clearly wasn’t.

The cat really wasn’t any good at this kind of stuff, but he’s going to have to try.

Image

“But you didn’t splatter me or hurt me that badly, that has to account for something right? You want to be yourself so badly but…You restrained yourself from killing me when you could’ve at any point in that fight, Most victims…don’t have that.” He extended his hand to touch her shoulder, then decided to retract it…then after a few seconds, actually put the hand on her shoulder.

“P-Please don’t feel so bad, this is my job, it’s what I do, I stop Akumas from creating disaster and I get hurt sometimes, you’re not the first and you wont be the last, trust me.” He rubbed the back of his neck again with his free hand. “It’s not yourself you should blame, it’s the mastermind behind it, if anyone.” Not really one to blame people per say.

Rebecca had been holding a piece of concrete in her hand when the other startled her, causing her to break it into pieces when she flinched and clenched her hand. She looked at her trembling hand, just a little scraped up from the pieces of concrete.

Image

“...Chat, you don’t understand. I’m a soldier. I’m supposed to protect... I’m...”

A timid, gentle hand laid over Chat’s, the young woman was terrified of hurting him again and it showed.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t...”

Gently removing his wrist from her grasp, he took the ring back and changed back, hoping to not reveal who he is too much, he took the hair clip and broke it, the Akuma flying out.

Image

“That’s…Akumas for you, they make people do things they wouldn’t do normally, like they’re possessed by their anger and grief, turning them into a whole different person, d-don’t think to much about your actions, I’ve had worse from people.” He has been flung through the air and hit three cars before. “Besides, it’s not your fault, it wasn’t you that was doing it, we all have some sort of desire, that unfortunately makes us all prey for Akumas, some just more than others.” He wasn’t doing well he could feel it, he was never good at this.

He rubbed the back of his neck.

“Just…don’t think too much about it, it’s alright, I’m fine.”

Rebecca didn’t even react to the other breaking her hairpin, her hands shaking far too much to keep a hold on Chat. Her, now loose, strawberry blonde hair fell in front of her eyes, shading then from view.

Image

She silently walked over to a concrete wall and punched it, without holding back this time. There was a crater in the concrete, cracks going all around, showing just how much she had been holding back.

“...Chat, my strength can splatter people. I-If I hadn’t had the presence of mind to-”

She cut herself off, internally horrified by the implications as Nata Taishi whispered words of comfort to her user.

Avatar

A gasp of air left his lungs at the punch, she had winded him for sure, By the time he got air back, she had grabbed his wrist and no matter how he struggled, she wouldn’t let go.

Image

“Please think about which side you’re fighting on-!” The ring was off, his true self was shown, he used his free arm to cover his face and looked away in an attempt to hide his identity quickly.

“Think about who that man is and what he wants my powers for before you do something you’ll regret…!” He spoke softly, well, more softer than Chat, anyway.

Rebecca hadn’t let go of Chat’s wrist, having taken one look at the young teen and froze in place. Her ‘villain costume’ seemed to actually fizzle a little like TV static, the hand holding Chat’s wrist trembling a little.

“I... What am I... doing...?”

She had hurt a child for her own selfish desire. She couldn’t paint it any other way.

“Chat, I...”

Image

The look in her eyes was clear. Guilt was piling up in her stomach as Nata Taishi screeched at the second voice in her mind, telling him to get out as her user trembled.

“...what have I done...?”

Avatar

It’d appear she was a better brawler than he was a fencer, it didn’t take long for the pole to leave hi hands and him having to use his claws, playing the defensive, he didn’t want to hurt her.

Image

“You should trust those senses a bit more, that man who is on the other end cannot be trusted!” He was starting to tire out from his other battle, making his opens more obvious now.

“Haha...”

There was a chilling laugh from the young woman, her eyes flashing a bright yellow for just a split second as her fist planted itself in his stomach. What Chat had no idea was that she was still holding back so much of her strength out of fear of splattering the poor teen.

Image

The feathers attached to her headphones fluttered in the wind she made, the blue flames in her hair flickering out as she restrained his wrist with surprising strength.

“He said he’d turn me normal. I hate being human.”

Her voice was soft now, surprisingly gentle fingers closing around Chat’s ring and pulling.

Avatar

He saw another Akuma’d victim, only this one more familiar…

Image

“R-Rebecca!” Oh no, Oh damn. “T-Think about this! c-can you really trust something you labelled as evil to keep it’s word?!” Even though he was trying to talk her down, he kept his pole on defence, these things never normally worked out anyway…

Not to mention his power was starting to run out, he better end this quick, otherwise he’ll go back to normal, which wasn’t an option.

Rebecca’s eyes were sharp as blue flames licked through her hair, her blaze-enveloped hands swiping at the other before a fist came crashing down when he dodged, leaving rather terrifying cracks in the pavement.

“Hn. S’more of a void to my senses.”

Image

Her voice had been made rather distorted, her moves oddly skilled for someone who was fighting on silent fury alone. Rebecca took advantage of any openings Chat made near expertly, her experience as a fighter speaking for itself.

Avatar

Well, that was easy, a little…too easy, normally it’d be him and His Lady having some trouble but not this time. Where was His Lady anyway?

He didn’t like this feeling, he had to go get Rebecca, she seemed good at sniffing Akumas out…No, he didn’t like this feeling at all.

Image

“…Where’d she go? she wouldn’t stray too far right…?” For taking cover, she sure was good at it, he called out her name, this was bad.

‘If you help me, I’ll turn you back to normal. Get Chat Noir’s ring for me. That’s all you have to do.’, the voice had promised her. The young woman stood up on the roof, a sadistic grin splitting her face that would’ve been better seen on her Shadow than herself.

“Haha...”

Image

Rebecca’s voice was near silent as she casually walked to the edge, leaping off it, a leg extended as she axe-kicked downwards, blue flames enveloping her foot.

Feathers formed on her headphones, her hairpin black as a blue mask formed around her amber eyes, a kimono-like costume forming around her as her hair went starlight silver.

Avatar

Chat saw her go…and run past, figuring there must be an Akuma, he went where she was originally going and sure enough, someone got Akuma’d. Damn.

Image

“Well…That plan failed spectacularly, eh, time to move to plan deux.” Taking his pole out from it’s place on his back, he went into a fencing position.

Image

“En garde!” And there he goes, to attack, probably.

Image

Rebecca had practically disappeared after running away, opting to easily scale the side of a house to get away from the demonic-feeling thing. She hid on the roof, watching the leather-clad boy fight with curiosity.

“Hmm...”

She affixed a pair of headphones to her ears, to drown out the sounds of the battle before closing her eyes, using only her energy sense to feel how the battle was going. She expanded it as far as it could go, wondering what it was that was pinging her sense again.

“Is that...?”

She opened her eyes immediately saw another one of those butterflies and yelped, flinging herself back onto her rear end on the roof. She didn’t even have enough time to yell for the other before it fluttered over, disappearing into her flower hairpin.
