omg thank you for the pin tutorial!!! so helpful! if you don’t mind I have 3 questions! 1) can you design the pins in any art program? 2) how exactly do you do the shiny metal effect in photoshop for the outline and is it required or will a plain color be fine? 3) what kind of file should you save your design as before you submit it to your manufacturer? is PNG ok? 💚💚💚🥰

Hello nonnie, I’m sorry for the delay in answering, but YES you can use any art program to draw the pins, whatever you feel comfortable with, I’ve used both Procreate and Paint Tool Sai for them in different occasions.

2. For the shiny metal effect I’ve created a pattern that I just clip on to the lineart layer ( that’s why it’s important to have a separate layer for the lines and another for the colors ), below is an example of how I do it:

Diagonal strokes work best in my opinion and you can change the color according to what you want your pin plating to be, most common are silver, gold, black or rose gold. The metal effect is not required or necessary at all, so don’t worry too much about it — I only apply it to give my backers an idea of how the final product is going to look, but I’ve also seen many backers just skip that so if you want to do it, I think it looks cool but over all it’s really not required ;u;

3. I personally prefer to save my files as vectors / .ai ( Adobe Illustrator vectors ) since that’s what is easiest for the manufacturers to use and I can make sure the proof they provide is identical that way — but most manufacturers can work just fine with png or jpeg or psd ( basically anything ) as well since they do have special designers to do the vectorizing for you if you don’t already have a vector / ai file.

I hope this helps and please don’t hesitate to ask if you have more questions ♡ I will try to respond quicker from now on ;o; ♡ ♡ ♡

hello~ you know how you made some pin making tips? I was wondering if you would be willing to make a full video tutorial [or written is ok if it’s easier for you] on the process? I’m a visual learner so I know it will help me understand better that way!

Hello, thank you for the request nonnie, I tried to explain my process and some tips as best as I could, I hope this helps!!
The pin used for this tutorial is currently available in my kickstarter here

Writing does not have to be realistic

Writing does not have to be realistic

Writing does not have to be realistic

Oh my god, I’ve seen this so much recently and it’s killing me. Posts that talk about how extreme shows of emotion don’t happen constantly, how fight scenes should never take more than a minute, how nobody notices the exact color of someone’s eyes the first time they meet. And yes, while true irl, you don’t have to write “realistically” if you don’t want to. Not only is expecting this form of realism stifling to a lot of writing styles and genres, but, um, hello we are making art, people! Art! Where exaggeration and aesthetic are at their best and often greatly add to whatever you’re creating.

You want your characters to throw themselves to the ground and sob? To leap and clap their hands from joy and excitement? Do it!!!! Fight scenes that take pages and involve the most ridiculous, outlandish weapons, and have the characters twirl and spin and leap and call out witty banter? Fucking go for it, my guy! You want your character to observe “the gorgeous, ever changing, shifting green hues” of their love interest’s eyes the first time they meet? Hell yeah, baby!

Look, all I’m saying, is that if realism takes away from your writing, if it feels confining and suffocating, then don’t do it! Nothing has to be realistic if you don’t want it to be. Again, we’re talking about art here. Go all out! Be ridiculous and outlandish! Don’t let other’s demand for realism destroy the story you’ve crafted

This.

Look, it’s fun sometimes to take apart the tropes and “mythbuster” your way through them, but that is itself a form of entertainment. It’s not meant to be instructive about how to create art.

For god’s sake, the reason we tell stories is so we can engage the imagination. It’s so we can fantasize and romanticize and theorize and wonder for a little while just what it would be like if the world worked a certain way.

Ask BTS about THEIR music not the music of their fav American artists

Ask them about Love Yourself and what it means to them

Ask them about their Love Myself Campaign with UNICEF and what their goals are

Ask them about their journey from the bottom and what stories they have yet to share with us

STOP asking them American-centric questions like who their fav actors are, who they wanna collab with in the U.S., fav American food, English albums, etc  You’re just reaching to have them compliment American Artists and ‘culture’ to reinstate that y’all believe the western industry is somehow superior

BTS is paving the way for Kpop to be globally recognized - not to seek western validation but to break down stigmas and show that the passion and love of music is a language in its own

Why bother inviting them to your shows and podcasts just to dismiss the reason they’re there

What does I PURPLE YOU mean?

Ever since V (Taehyung, TaeTae, Fashion Icon, etc) posted his amazing purple cap that reads I PURPLE U, tons of new ARMYs and casuals have been wondering what the heck this phrase is about and why this photo has over a million likes on Twitter. That’s actually just another casual day for BTS on Twitter, but we’ll save the achievement / bragging for another post.

‘I PURPLE YOU’ comes from V’s usage of the Korean phrase '보라해’ (romanized to borahae) as a fun twist to the Korean phrase '사랑해’ (saranghae). 보라 (bora) means purple and 사랑해 (saranghae) means I love you, so he puts two and two together to make a super adorable phrase that only BTS and ARMYs will understand. In fact his love of the color purple dates even before he started using the term 보라해 (borahae) during BTS’s 3rd Muster where he says:

“Purple is the last color of the rainbow colors. Purple means I will trust and love you for a long time.”

God damn it Tae why do you have to go and melt ARMYs hearts like that??? He really is too sweet. He says this in response to an event that K-ARMYs put on during the 3rd Muster where they put a purple cover on their ARMY bombs as an event for BTS.

There you have it! I PURPLE YOU is Tae’s lovely way of saying I love you to the fans in a cute, made-up words, inside joke sort of way. :) If you want to share in this super cute inside joke with other ARMYs on the street, pick up this t-shirt in purple for a casual intro to other BTS fans!
