Hollywood producers want Leonardo DiCaprio to play historic Muslim poet Rumi

A biopic about Rumi, the 13th century Muslim poet (born in present-day Afghanistan) is now in development. Producer Stephen Joel Brown told the Guardian they hope Leonardo DiCaprio will play Rumi. But wait it gets worse, they want another hugely famous white actor to play Shams of Tabriz, Rumi’s Iranian spiritual advisor.

A few years back in my country, there were girls supposedly using hair relaxer and toothpaste as lightening cream. Thing is, that sort of thing is kind of a niche beauty product these days, and the last woman I saw with a lightened face looked horrible. However, what if a woman wanted the cream to hide dark marks caused by acne or whatever? Sometimes it’s to reduce sun damage. Last time I checked, white people in general didn’t really care how light or dark you are. Not for the past few decades, really.

How is people wanting to know about you remotely the same as trying to make you feel like you don’t belong? Do you want to look like everyone else, or do you want your particular type of beauty to be accepted? BEcause if it’s the latter, perhaps you should try seeing someone about these insecurities you’re clearly projecting.

If white is the cultural standard, why are there so many non-white models and actresses, including Alek Wek and Lupita Nyong'o? Doesn’t get much blacker than actually being African. Why do so many SJWs - including MTV, which made the video these gifs are made from - complain that non-white women are seen as attractive because they’re exotic? Pick one!

lol “white people don’t care how light or dark you are” where exactly are you living?? a perfect world? there’s still tons of racism unless you’re blind to it which it seems like you are since it’s not affecting you currently. most people when asking where you’re from or what you’re mixed with have an ulterior motive, they don’t actually wanna know more about you. when someone is asking if you’re mixed with something in the context of that gif, they’re erasing your blackness in the hopes that you might be part white. they’re basically saying, “wow you look really good, there’s no way you can be 100% black bc black people don’t look this good/have this good hair/etc” of course black women don’t wanna look like everyone else, we just want to be accepted and be able to buy some fucking makeup that matches our skin tone without having to go to specialized stores/sections. and wow “so many non white actresses/models” yet you were only able to name 2? there has only very recently been an increase in poc in the mainstream media and we’re still vastly outnumbered. the majority of what we see in movies and media is still the standard straight white male. people don’t wanna be seen as exotic because that’s fetishizing obv?? who wants to be wanted only bc of where they’re from or what their skin tone is?? this whole post is a mess

Specifically to this woman. 

Earlier today, Jo Cox, a Labour MP in Northern England, was stabbed and shot at an event in a library. 

It has just been confirmed that she has died due to the attack. 

She was a great campaigner and humanitarian, and has left behind a husband and two children. 

This kind of event happens rarely in the UK, and so this is terrifying and destabilising that such a horrific thing has happened to such a compassionate person. 

Can thoughts on Tumblr turn to the UK today please, and turn to remember a woman who has been brutally murdered after a lifetime of trying to build a better country.

Guys, I’m begging you to reblog this Jo Cox was a representative, and she was shot while meeting with her constituents. She has been very vocally advocating for Syrian refugees to enter Britain, and was shot by a man who allegedly shouted “Britain first” several times. She died within an hour. <b>Please give her death and life the attention it deserves.
