There are movies that captivate and unravel you in the way that a master director does. Chloé Zhao is that director and The Rider is that movie.   Every frame breathes humanity. Every line of dialogue is specific and exists for a reason. I love this film so much – and now it’s available for streaming on Amazon and iTunes.

I say it every time but we don’t talk enough about the sheer strength of the emotional bond they have. And how that love bleeds through to people outside of the cluster

We see it in Capheus when he greets Rajan like an old friend, calls Felix his brother the moment they first meet. Riley when she tells Diego someone she only met for a few hours that she missed him with such profound sincerity. Lito when he screams “Family, we’re coming!” Because Amanita, the girl who makes Nomi feel beautiful and loved is now his as well. It’s Wolfgang swearing to protect Nomi’s sister and destroy anyone that harms her, because he would die for his family and now his family also includes his clusters loved ones. Will trying to stop sun from breaking her ownheart even more because he can feel the desperation and hurt raging in her, the love that she still holds for a brother who never loved her. The way that they never ever question someone outside of the cluster coming joining them. Dani, Hernando, Bug, Amanita, Mun, and Rajan are all welcome from the moment they arrive because the others can feel that deep rooted trust, that love, and it puts them at ease.

And it’s beautiful because it really brings home the message that love conquers all.

“Mom, did you feel emotional the first time you drove in Sacramento? I did and I wanted to tell you but we weren’t really talking when it happened. All those bends I’ve known my whole life and… stores and.. the whole thing. But I wanted to tell you… I love you, thank you.”

Anchorage Resident Tim Newton Awoke To The Sound Of Something Running Across His Deck

“Tim was awakened by noises on our deck last week - and looked outside. In astonishment, he grabbed his camera.. and can you believe it? Mama Lynx and her SEVEN kits!! She called to them and they all lined up right outside in front of where he was standing (he was inside the screen door!) Amazing ALASKA WILD LIFE!!! They proceeded to run and play on our deck, and then in our yard.”
