since moving here ive noticed europeans have no concept of how few americans ever leave USA. every american tourist youve met is of an economic crust that is vastly unobtainable to the other like. 85% generously. no matter what you have believed i can guarantee this. even getting to canada isnt really a possibility and the mexico-US border is highly controlled and militarized.

to put it into perspective. a ~2 hour flight from london to warsaw is like. 30 to 45 USD?

and a 2 hour flight from one US city to another would be about 130 USD

it was very cheap to fly here. i make over 100k USD now and i dont know if ill ever be able to afford leaving. if that gives you an idea of how prohibitive travel is here. i havent even touched on how the US has Zero guaranteed holidays by the govt. many people here go years without ever having an entire week off of work

this has had a like. massive impact on American Brain and they dont even know it because travel isnt even a consideration economically. they dont even know how much more vacation time european countries have guaranteed

london to warsaw - which is what they specified - literally is £20. flights from london to poland have always been cheap

£20 is actually $22 so really $45 is overestimating

With everything that's gone on with nemlei I think it's very, very important we don't boil this down to a proship, antis, purity culture, etc issue.

Nemlei wasn't doxed because people find TCOAAL's content disgusting. And I know in this discourse and social discourse it's easy to think that was the case: believe me, I know, but we need to remember this:

Nemlei's doxing wasn't because of ship discourse, it was because of transphobia. Nemlei was doxed because people believe that she's a trans woman and wanted to prove it. I'm not 100% sure myself but it's to my understanding (correct me if I'm wrong) that she was doxxed by either 4channers or redditors.

Nemlei's doxing wasn't because of shipping culture and wars: it was because of transphobia. Very specifically, it was because of transmisogyny and such "degeneracy" is made by such people.

Please keep this in mind. This is a reality, a hell that countless trans women live with: and as you can see, even people who are not trans women are sometimes thrown into the crossfire of this vile, disgusting hatred. Please do not forget this. This is something that goes far, far beyond the proship/anti discussion. You are not just reducing what Nemlei has gone through as just shipping and fandom discourse, but the pain and suffering of countless trans women.

Support Nemlei's decision to go offline: despite everything, she has not abandoned TCOAAL and is still working to deliver us chapter 3 in its complete state. The decision to work with Kit9 studios was likely before this incident even occurred, so have faith that we will still get a good chapter 3. Support Nemlei if she decides to come back: if she sells her games on steam, I certainly intend to buy them.

But please, please do not forget what this whole disgusting incident has been rooted in. I say this as somebody who proudly wears the proship label: please, don't reduce this to something rooted in fan conflict when it is not. Thank you.

I saw this on a thread and it had me thinking: you think you might just be falling out of love with persona in general? (Or at least the direction persona has been taking since p5?) It kinda sounds like your problems with persona ain't gonna be fixed any time soon especially given the hostile responses to P6 hopes/wishlists/whatever

So like, maybe. But I can't know until we get outta P5 hell. TT0TT Cause it's been pretty P5 centric, and well....everything P5 centric has carried over P5's sins. The only exception is MAYBE P5X, partly because it's a new cast and partly because it might be an AU. (which does have me hopefully as much as I'm trying to reign it in).

"What about P3R" I don't like how it was handled, but I have other versions I can go back to. Tbh, PQ2 and P3D, with all the flaws and how they were handled, when you look at just the P3/4 stuff, it's good. It's when P5 came into the mix. TT0TT (For PQ2 it's lore stuff, for P3/5D it's just splitting assets and resources so that neither could obtain their full potential imo).

We'll find out with P6.......

As for wishlists/hopes....I wasn't hostile. TT0TT Sorry if it came across as that. I was just joking I have such low expectations, mostly cause P5 (and now P3R) have burned me. Mostly because I know..."ah well, that's probs just too much for them to handle >_>" And I find it funny that one hope I had like years ago ended up being true.

I have nothing against other people's wishes. Tbh I like a lot of people's hopes/wishlists (and also want them to happen).....I'm just not making it beyond two entries (green/calendar) tbh. I'll theorize when we get more info, but I'm not gonna wish too hard is all. TT0TT

I can sympathize. Since P3, the golden team for Persona has been Hashino, Sojiema, and Meguro. All three, and many of the talents associated with them, left after P5 was done.

P3R is the first major project the post-Hashino Persona team has released, and it's...not great. It's not terrible, but given the amount of resources they had at their disposal, Reload feels very underwhelming.

I'm holding out some hope that Reload just suffered for being a side project to Persona 6, but it's still not a good sign.

I'm reading a book about Boston Irish history and this part struck me.

"Newcomer and native became locked in a smoldering enmity that molded the Boston Irish in a unique way.

They possess a fatalistic certainty that nothing is on the level (honest), leavened a bit by a mordant (sarcastic) sense of humor that has both sustained and held them back.

The downside to a steady diet of waggish chatter (sarcastic teasing) is that even the brightest among them tend to pull up short of a full effort as something unsustainable and perhaps even foolhardy.

They bear the double scars of a discriminatory society and later the inequities of patronage."

Can't relate, I am very trusting and never the least bit sarcastic or self-defeating.

Bit of an addendum to my previous post I guess.

Ep3 could change my view, but as stands, I think it's cope to hold out for an ending where Andrew and Ashley either safely seperate or develop a normal sibling relationship.

Given the thematic choices and the dev's apparent proclivities, Coffin will almost certainly end one of four ways.

1) Andrew and Ashley drag each other to the grave. This is probably where Decay is going. Both will die. It will probably be angsty and heartbreaking but also weirdly romantic in the way it is portrayed.

2) Andrew and Ashley accept their feelings and embrace being incestous degenerates. This is where I expect Burial/Questionable to end.

The only real question mark is Burial/Sane, but that I can see one of two possibilities:

3) The siblings surpress their feelings for the sake of a normal relationship, but it's emphasized they are not happy with this.

4) The siblings try to surpress their feelings, fail, still get together, but it's more drawn out.

So even IF we get that #3 ending in Burial/Sane - big if - it probably won't be the happy ending some hope for. It'll be there to emphasize how unhappy they are in that outcome as opposed to the alternative.

Very great take a lot of people hate themselves for liking the game so they try to cope about the incest but it’s a part of the characters in all routes whether they sex or not. It’s not a bad thing, it’s not a story about being moral, I love the characters just the same, they’re just fictional characters I couldn’t care less that they’re incestious honestly

Also the door choice is very likely just Ashley’s perspective and her choosing how her relationship with Andrew goes since she’s fine with it either way. It’s interesting too that he doesn’t have a vision on the sane route, I think that means he doesn’t align with that path, based on what we’ve seen from him I don’t think he wants Ashley to be heartbroken nor seem to care about Julia in any meaningful capacity

Indeed. I think that people feel understandably uncomfortable about the incest, so they try to downplay it. There's fandoms who have gone further over less, after all. Personally, while I do feel a bit squicked out by the incest, I also don't see it as some deal-breaker. I have siblings, and nothing about Andrew and Ashley reminds me of my relationship with them. It was obvious they didn't have a normal sibling relationship from very early in the game. And then, yeah - it is just fiction, too. Part of the appeal of fiction is showing the path less taken, after all. If we can and do regularly excuse murder in fiction, why should consensual incest be so taboo? Besides, I've gotten behind a pairing that involves a robot and a pairing that has a headless ghost woman, both of which I would have tremendous reservations about dating if it was me. But the characters don't, so nor do I.

The one place I will disagree is that Ashley is fine with her relationship with Andrew being romantic or platonic - she definitely does want a romantic relationship, hence why even Burial/Sane features her as being heartbroken at Andrew and Julia.

The part she's indifferent about is sex, since she seems to view sex in a very detached and unemotional way. She gets it's something couples do, hence why she expects it to happen between them eventually, but she herself doesn't put much stock into it. It's possible Burial/Sane will have Ashley telling Andrew he can get back with Julia if he wants, but if she does that, it won't be because she doesn't want him romantically. It'll be because she finally accepts she can't control his love life.

I've written before about some Coffin fans who argue that Andrew and Ashley are only incestuous in Burial/Questionable and why I disagree with this. To sum that, when consummation is the only line they've yet to cross, they've already gone far, far, far beyond the bounds of a normal sibling relationship.

In a similar vein, some fans argue that the Burial/Sane v Questionable division is the player being given the choice as to whether or not Ashley and Andrew's feelings are platonic or romantic.

I wouldn't agree with this take either, and I'll explain why.
