His expression fell flat on the woman as she pummeled him with her questions. Thinking back on it, of course his explanation sounded ridiculous, but to his credit, she most certainly hadn’t seen what he had. His face changed when she made her hand transform, and immediately he understood the difference between she and Perona.

”I see,” he replied. “You’ve eaten some kind of devil fruit, then? Are you like a— cloud girl?" But before he could finish his thought, she was demanding, somewhat irritably, actually — why he wouldn’t like her if she were a ghost. Ah, hell. He already looked like a crazy person — describing how demanding Perona had been and how downright negative her ghosts made him feel was not a conversation he wanted to have. The pirate needed a subject change, and quickly.

”Ahh, just forget I mentioned it," he waved it off, feeling the artery in his forehead begin to throb as she stood with expectant arms crossed. "Look, I’m just looking for a place around here to drink some booze. You know of any?”

“…Didn’t expect you to have guessed so quickly,” she muttered, resisting the urge to pout like a child. How dull, if he could guess that just by walking through her then she was getting far too predictable. And that was never fun. “Less cloud more like fog I guess? Although I think it’s all made up of the same stuff…I dunno,” she had never been the sharpest crayon in the box, but it had never been a problem before. You didn’t need to be overly intelligent to kill a man or follow orders.

Jackie was about to make more inquiries about the green haired man’s supernatural experiences because they sounded at least somewhat interesting, until he mentioned drinking booze. Oh; she knew all about the places to drink booze around here. Even if the crew had only been there for a few days.

“I know of plenty. Was just on my way to one myself,” to stare at and maybe burn any of the wanted posters she’d find in there, alongside the obvious drinking, but he didn’t need to know that, did he? “There’s a load around here, man.”

In fact, no, she didn’t mind, because the girl was extremely dense and didn’t understand how to back off or stop being an annoying pirate captain with a five-year old mentality. The fact that the other female would do the — whatever it is , again, only excited her even more, and now she was immediately at the other’s side, seemingly in an instant, and was poking them as if it would help to find out how it was possible. There was no longer a grin on her face, but in fact a raised, eyebrow, and a line formed through pressed lips.

Good luck to the stranger, who has just allowed herself to be admired by the biggest child in the universe and will probably never shake them off. Well, second biggest; if you include Luffy which, Elspeth hasn’t the faintest idea of.

Anyone can sense the amount of curiosity radiating off of her, for something so stupid. Not that the stranger’s powers were stupid, of course.

“I’m not doing it because I want to do it!”

She snapped, if this stranger had said anything else or asked her why she could do it she would have yelled more. Why did this woman want to know why she could do that? It wasn’t like she could teach her or anything!

It was a stupid little trick she gained from being a stupid little girl, she’d eaten the thing that could have allowed both her and her parents to live in luxury for as long as they had lived. She’d lost the ability to swim, something rather vital for a pirate hunter. All in all, she’d completely and utterly screwed up, and all she had to show for said screw up was the ability to turn into fog or mist. To some it was impressive, but it was nothing compared to the guy that could become fire or ice or whatever. Logia types were considered powerful, but she’d drawn the short straw when it came to the powers available.

“It’s just a reaction okay? You run into me or get too close without me wanting you to and I’m going to do that okay? It’s like flinching, you just do it! I can’t tell ya how, I just do it!”

Zoro never knew what to expect from people on the street. His rough appearance would usually drive people shuffling in the opposite direction, or occasionally some poor fool would try to take his head and cash it in for the massive bounty placed on it. But every once in awhile, someone would insist on giving him Hell for whatever strange comment or inquiry passed his lips. But this situation was different, wasn’t it? If she hadn’t been a damn — ghost or whatever, moments before, he wouldn’t have said anything at all.

”Yeah, a ghost — ghost girl. I know at least one of them." He explained, not sensitive to the fact that he probably sounded like a lunatic. "I didn’t see much when I walked into — uh, through— you?" He reached behind his head, thrusting a hand into the unruly strands as he pondered on how to explain. "Ghosts go through things. I don’t know how it works but they’re a pain in the ass. I didn’t make a habit of walking through them, it was mostly the other way around." He deadpanned on her expression after a moment. "But you’re not one, so that’s good. I don’t really like ‘em.”

“You know ghosts? Like personally?” Jackie arched an eyebrow, it was just her luck that she’d run into, or rather walk through a crazy man on the street right? Why didn’t she just meet interesting people with interesting stuff to steal like Satordi seemed to meet? It was just her luck, really, being stuck with the weird ones. Although the green hair brough back memories, they hadn’t met before, obviously—she’d remember a weirdo like him, but there was something familiar about him. Like she’d seen his picture somewhere before…

She snapped herself away from those thoughts, it was clearly a coincidence if there ever was one. No one that…odd could have possibly made their way onto her radar. “Ghosts go through things ‘cause they’re not solid. I’m solid sometimes you know? I’m not always real thick you know?” Jackie raised a hand, watching as it slowly turned into a thin mist, usually she didn’t show it off; in fact she often made a conscious effort to hide her abilities but there wasn’t any harm in showing one person right? “So if I was one of those ghost girls you met, mister, are you saying you’d have disliked me on the spot?” She asked, crossing her arms.

—Stop. 

What was that? With eager eyes, the raven-haired would turn around with about as much excitement as a child, pupils shining whenever something of interest appeared.

All types of signs that the other was panicking were not visible to the captain, as she ignored everything that wasn’t what just happened.

❝ WOAH — LAdy, how’d ya’ do that?! It’s so cooool! ❞ It wasn’t a reaction one would expect, not at all. Maybe a person would run away — or start questioning the person even, but this girl was just admiring the power, despite having one of her own. Without warning, Elspeth — no, Speth — started to run to the stranger again, in order to find out if it’ll happen again. It will, right?

If there was one thing that Jackie hadn’t expected to happen it was for the person in question to run at her again, and ask questions, dear god she didn’t want to explain how she could do that. She just could. It was a normal reaction to her now; as a child she couldn’t control it, sure but she’d learned through years and years of training and just having the power at her disposal. Although now that she thought about it she hadn’t really ever stayed solid when someone came towards her.

Being knocked into was a horrible feeling after all. And as the woman ran at her again, she dispersed into mist yet again. By now it had been a natural reaction. 

“Do you mind?!”

Didn’t this woman realize how damn rude it was to run into people?!

He hadn’t really been paying attention, which, for the ever observant swordsman was a rare occurrence. After being at sea without booze for too many days to keep track of, Zoro made his journey through this new town with one purpose in mind. 

After looping past the same building for a third time, Zoro had craned his neck in search of a tavern when he came in contact with the strange entity that was full of energy but lacking in a solid form. Pausing in his steps, he looked back behind him, looking suspiciously upon the woman who was there.

”Just—" he paused to sigh. "Tell me you’re not one of those ghost girls.”

He hadn’t reacted badly, that was a good thing, and she didn’t think that she could take him down anyway. What, with those three fancy swords and the rather muscular form. Jackie was too tired to start a battle where she’d have to struggle. Struggling was a bore. And if there was one unforgivable thing to be; it was boring. However, his answer had been anything but boring. 

“One of those ghost girls?” the brunette arched an eyebrow, ever so slightly confused.

“Did the thing you walked through look like whatever the hell ghosts are made of to you?” She crossed her arms; unsure if she should be offended or not. “The hell sort of people have you been walking through?”

“I—“

Jackie turned back to the person who had gone through her instead of accidentally bumping into her as her body reformed from the thin mist it had previously dissipated into, eyes wide in shock.

“I just—“

She’d panicked. Plain and simple, she’d panicked like an idiot. The brunette was still sore from Amelie showing her that no logia power could save her  from a haki user with a wicked left hook, and she really didn’t want to get hit again. Despite being absolutely mortified she was eager to gauge their reaction. After all, if they started to run she’d have to do something they’d definitely regret.
