being a grad student means teaching yourself queer theory bc no one else is doing it but then when you start talking to people to get started they are really excited about it and you have a reading list probably 150 books long and you’re sitting in on undergraduate classes. and this all seems well and good except it means you have made the choice, that no one forced you to make, to read Foucault and classic Judith Butler.
you are doing this while you are teaching yourself to read Russian because you’re in the middle of nowhere so no one teaches Russian.
so you don’t have any free time bc you’re also helping teach a class and taking three classes while you work a second job. Somehow though you still have time to fee lonely.

Using they/them as a default when you don’t have someone’s pronouns is great! It normalizes the pronouns and makes sure you don’t assume.
Using they/them after finding out that person does NOT use they/them? Abhorrent. Disgusting. Cloaking your transphobia in the language of the oppressed to make sure people don’t call you out on it.
I have so much homework I need to do BUT I don’t have the emotinal energy to do it bc a fucking 22 year old thought they wanted to be my boyfriend and I don’t know how to tell them to fuck off so we keep having the same fight over and over (not about them being my boyfriend i DID tell them no to that)
AND i can’t even complain about it anywhere bc they follow my fucking everything so I have to come to this stupid blog just so i can scream this into the either.

It’s very interesting to see the different ways Wheel of Time and Witcher are handling having an established loyal fanbase while also trying to bring in new fans
For example Wheel of Time dealing with fourteen books had to do a lot of condensing and there are a few plot differences, BUT gave the fans things they have been asking for (an actual canon queer relationship that was only kind of fetishized in the books in a weird way)
The Witcher however disregarded all source material and also killed one of the most beloved characters.

Eskel is someone who survived the trials with Geralt. Eskel is Geralts brother, his confidant, his support, and his foil.
Eskel is a Witcher with immense magical aptitude and competency with signs.
Eskel is Ciri’s adoptive uncle, someone who’d risk his life for her and has.
Lol jk Nah he’s none of that and is just a womanizing misogynist who’s actually completely unimportant to the story and also died to the tree monster. Also the tree monster infects things now. Also wolves are gonna eat his body. It’s cool guys. He doesn’t play any major role or anything. He’s an expendable little mean man. What a joke.

It’s really weird that they didn’t include Eskel in this new season huh? Like they’ve introduced all the other Witchers (and even one’s that don’t canonically exsist!) but not Eskel.
I’m sure what ever they have planned for season three is gonna be good and that that’s when we get to meet Eskel. He’s such a fan favorite I know they would never do anything stupid or reckless with him.
