i’m so tired of capitalism, I’m so tired of having to scroll past ads on this app that don’t want to get out my way, and then when they do, somehow they’re still popping up as if I clicked them when I absolutely would never. Like nine times out of 10 that an ad populates my screen as if I clicked it, I have 100% scrolled past it and somehow its still trying to full screen me. I just want to go five minutes without having a fucking pay for someone to stop trying to sell me something, jfc

sigh. thinking about the insane amount of conditioning children have to go through in order to become Productive Adults Under Capitalism. like you have to go through years and years of school to get used to being constantly mistreated by authority figures and to working 8 hours a day. because otherwise no one would want to do any of this!! it’d be funny if it wasn’t so sad

and the way children and teens resist it?? pretty much every student hates the grading system, and by middle school it’s common practice to help each other cheat on tests and copy each others’ homework? the system does its Absolute Best to convince you that the ranking is totally legitimate and not at all racist ableist or classist, to make you believe that it’s completely normal for authority figures to restrict your access to opportunities on the basis of this Very Important And Natural Hierarchy. and yet pretty much everyone sees that it’s bullshit !!

I hope this isn’t derailing the conversation op, but most teachers, especially fresh and bright-eyed ones coming straight out of college, hate it too. To the point where we see the headlines about the huge numbers of the new generation of teachers coming in and quitting within 5 years on the job because they feel helpless to actually facilitate a stable environment for students, abhor the curriculum they’re forced to teach, and of course the matter of being stuck in an unlivable wage that will barely increase until someone else retires.

This isn’t me saying, like, “not all teachers!” This is just me agreeing with that last comment’s point about how “pretty much everyone sees it as bullshit!” Even those within the system, to the point where people who do go into it hoping to “make a change from within” realize the hopelessness of doing so when they’re being apart of the system and being put in power in a classroom as a tool of oppressors, finding that they will just end up being the oppressors themselves and give up to go on to do other things because it feels like a futile endeavor when you’re stuck in a “that’s above paygrade situation” where you have no ability to enforce active change.

i love when i warn people over and over and over again that i have "ugly" symptoms of my mental disorders and that i won't always be easy to deal with and they assure me it's okay and it can't be that bad and say all these nice things then fuck off and leave when things start to get tough. cute.
