Help my friend get off the streets.

On the 27th of April, my close friend @glenn-griffon​ was evicted from her home and has been living out of her car ever since. Due to the current pandemic, she’s been unable to find a shelter that will take in any new people, so a group of her friends, myself included have been trying to support her as much as we possibly can, but as it stands, issues are piling up faster than we can provide financially.

She lives in Texas and has made the journey down from Hooks to Houston to try and find a low income rental place she can afford on her SSDI payments. We’re hoping to raise about $1500-2000 for everything we need. 

Pictured above is her car, which has recently broken down and is in desperate need of maintenance. Currently we’re estimating a total of $700+ for the work needed to be done, but we can currently pay for roughly $450 of it. On top of that, I’d like to set her up with a few months of rent in advance, plus deposit (which we’ve had to use to go towards fixing the car initially), and a bit extra to help her get settled in.

A GoFundMe is in the works of being made but I can’t start one myself due to not living in the same country as her, there’s some weirdness with the beneficiary system there but if you want to help out now, you can donate to her here directly through PayPal. I will update this post once the GFM has been set up.

Yes, sadly I’ve been booted out onto the streets and I’m having to scrape by to survive. I’m not in such a bad spot that I’m eating out of trash, I still food stamps to eat with but there’s things that you cannot buy with foodstamps such as toilet paper and gasoline and other things.

If There’s any followers of mine still active here I could use whatever help you can give.

Rainbow’s Twilight: All-in-all though, it’s been a good start. I don’t know what we’re in for next, but I’m still very much happy with Rainbow Dash ^^

Guys I promise I’m still working on that update to the ask blog I was talking about when I got my Cintiq. I know it’s been two months now, but  know that I’ve spent more time doing art in these two months than I have in probably the last few years. I’m just insanely slow.

Instead of my original plan to go with something simple, I decided to go WAY THE FUCK ALL OUT, having each panel being fully painted… despite only having what? Two fully painted pics under my belt? Anyway long story short I bit off way more than I could chew, and at this point I completely hate how it looks… but it’s probably more from staring at it for so long than anything else… probably.

It’s coming though, and it’s almost done. I’m onto the last panel.

It’s beautiful. Still a few technical foibles to sort out, like not being able to get 4k on the tablet, and a continuous disconnection issue, but otherwise it looks great, it feels great and I can’t wait to start using this baby.

The thing on the right is an Elgato Steam Deck. I don’t have plans on streaming or anything (yet), but it’s a VERY handy little thing to have for my keyboard shortcuts (since there are no express keys on the tablet and since I’m a lefty, trying to operate my shortcuts with my right hand is a pain).

I also got this great new guitar amp from my mum. This has been the most spoiled I’ve ever been for my birthday, and I’m still in a little shock.

Important information for Content Creators on Tumblr

okay i know ive posted alot about this just now, but now that ive got it more or less figured out I’m gonna make a better post here and include the tags relevent to my interactions in it to ensure no one else in my fandoms/communities are blindsided like i was. 

I encourage you to make your own, or to just recopy this, tagging the fandoms and communities important to you!

CONTENT CREATORS: TUMBLR IS HIDING YOUR POSTS!

If you make a post with external links, your post will be hidden from searches. If you make a post and link to your redbubble, no one can search for your post. If you make art and link it to your deviantart or artstation, no one can search for you post. If you make any post and just throw on a “hey here is where you find me!” no one can search that post. If you want to recommend a fic or a youtube video, no one can search your post, if you… hell you get the idea. Tumblr has completely shut down content creators on this hellsite and its fucking infuriating.

Edit:  I have just confirmed that the post type “Link” also does not show up in the tags. Thats right, there is an ENTIRE TYPE OF TUMBLR POST that cannot be searched. G-FUCKING-G TUMBLR.

WHAT TO DO?

It shuts down posts with external links, so at first i assumed internal links would be fine. and they are. if you make a page on your tumblr blog called like /links or something you can certainly link to that. But in that way you run into an issue, tumblr mobile is a piece of shit and cant load tumblr pages, and itll just take you back to the mainblog any time you try.

The best solution ive found so far is put all your relevent links in your blog description like so:

and then in every content post, call tumblr out for being a piece of shit and direct them to the links in your blog description.

Edit: In the top right hand side of photo posts you can click on it and include a single link as “source” that should work if you have one link neccessary. though if you need more you are still SOL.

CONTENT CREATOR SUPPORTERS

It is important now more than ever on this hellsite that you try to support your artist and content creators, reblog as much as possible, look to find them on websites off this piece of shit, and generally do your best to spread the word and support them, since tumblr itself is trying to silence them! 

Holy shit. Now I know why no one is commenting on my videos. I upload them to YouTube because tumblr won’t play them.

Glad other people notice that too! Made two posts about that issue on April this year. It is infuriating how bad Tumblr’s search engine is! 

I just tested this out via editing / removing links in my posts, and it appears to be legitimate.

I believe I know a small workaround you can do, however:

First, go to edit your theme.

Go down and add a page. Make a redirect link for the common link you’d want to use. In this case I’ll demonstrate with my Patreon.

In your posts, instead of using the direct link, use the redirect one inside your blog:

So this link would go to zedrin-maybe.tumblr.com/patreon, which then goes to patreon.com/zedrin.

I have just tested this and it appears the posts I’ve made edits to, which weren’t showing up in search results, now are.

One small side effect to this: it makes it very easy to link to my stuff if I have multiple links to use, which is very useful for organizational purposes, so to be honest I’d be prompted to do this even if the search results weren’t an issue. I just need to set up my redirect pages in advance.
