Also popping into remind you that “queer” being a slur is not terf rhetoric if it’s LGBT+ people talking about how the word was and STILL is used derogatorily against them. This misinfo shit happens literally every year and the fact that trans ppl are getting told they’re falling for terf shit because they don’t want to be called a slur is so ridiculous. Reclaim slurs if they’re yours to reclaim but don’t call people them without permission, and avoid grouping the entire community under them if you want to be more considerate. Also, please keep in mind that Queer and terms like it have different connotations in more progressive areas. In red states and rural areas particularly, queer is very much still a slur that bigots use and I dealt with that growing up. Forcing the word on people isnt doing shit to terfs, it’s dismissing other LGBT+ people who don’t want to reclaim something that’s been used to hurt them.

& if the idea of a “queer” being used derogatorily is a foreign concept to you, if you’re arguing that it’s not a slur and never was a slur, then you’re not reclaiming shit because that’s not how reclaimation works.

And pleeeassse don’t come in with “all I see is people yelling at others for calling themselves queer” bc

1. If someone does that to you obviously that’s not cool and it has nothing to do with the point I’m making

Not saying it DOESNT happen ever but I legitimately do not know where you guys are finding so many of these fellow LGBT people who are apparently accosting you personally for calling yourself queer.
