“Someone can be madly in love with you and still not be ready. They can love you in a way you have never been loved and still not join you on the bridge. And whatever their reasons you must leave. Because you never ever have to inspire anyone to meet you on the bridge. You never ever have to convince someone to do the work to be ready. There is more extraordinary love, more love that you have never seen, out here in this wide and wild universe. And there is the love that will be ready.”

“Above all else, it is about leaving a mark that I existed: I was here. I was hungry. I was defeated. I was happy. I was sad. I was in love. I was afraid. I was hopeful. I had an idea and I had a good purpose and that’s why I made works of art.”

“Time is tricky. You have whole months, even years, when nothing changes a speck, when you don’t go anywhere or do anything or think one new thought. And then you can get hit with a day, or an hour, or a half a second when so much happens it’s almost like you got born all over again into some brand-new person you for damn sure never expected to meet.”

“This is your daily, friendly reminder to use commas instead of periods during the dialogue of your story,” she said with a smile.

“Unless you are following the dialogue with an action and not a dialogue tag.” He took a deep breath and sat back down after making the clarifying statement.

“However,” she added, shifting in her seat, “it’s appropriate to use a comma if there’s action in the middle of a sentence.”

“True.” She glanced at the others. “You can also end with a period if you include an action between two separate statements.”

Things I didn’t know

“And–” she waved a pen as though to underline her statement–“if you’re interrupting a sentence with an action, you need to type two hyphens to make an en-dash.”

You guys have no idea how many students in my advanced fiction workshop didn’t know any of this when writing their stories.

That’s what Republicans do though. They underfund or put ridiculous burdens on governmential agencies so that they’ll be less efficient then turn around and say, “see, government is inefficient, we need to privatize everything.”

They did this with the US Postal Service, too. Congressional Republicans passed the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act of 2006 which says that that USPS had to fund retirement pensions not just for their current employees, but any potential employees, for the next 80 years. It has caused an incredible financial mess of the USPS, which Republicans then used to slash USPS’s funding, causing more ineffiency and help further privatize the shipping industry. The VA is another example.

State governments do this with public education and infrastructure, too.

Don’t confuse my hatred of the hyperwealthy for jealousy over what they have. I don’t want a six figure sports car, or a 40 room mansion, or a gold leaf truffle wagyu steak dinner. I want redistribution of wealth that allows for infrastructural support of all citizens’ basic survival needs.

“dont fight hate with hate” so u admit, u hate us?

“dont fight fire with fire” so u admit, u set the fire?

this is like when people say “feminists just want to switch the roles so women are above men instead!”

…so, you’re recognising that there is already an existing inequality and power imbalance

Greyhounds are lanky, sweet, kinda-dumb couch-potatoes/tiny horses made out of elbows and snoots. They love a good run every now and then but are mostly content to flop around in awkward sleeping positions and stand silently in the middle of the room hoping for food.

They aren’t super compatible with small animals but they can be trained out of it.

I have one and she’s my little dummy ❤️

Greyhounds. “Consider us!”

here’s a hot take… grapefruit is the most bastardous of all fruits. it tastes terrible, you cant go near it if you’re on certain medications, and they are aesthetically overhyped. now the humble raspberry, now thats a fruit worth talking about

…dare I say veterans being the public image of PTSD in america is deliberate propaganda to make us sympathize with soldiers who kill people overseas ? way more women have PTSD than men, and a lot have it from sexual and domestic violence, not combat.

my advice to women: scream more, wreak havoc, be ugly and gross, use the sword emojis

my advice to men: develop a sense of shame

Nevaeh now wears a scarf to cover several bald spots and her singed hair. She was left with first-degree burns, but it could have been worse according to Tanya Robinson, Nevaeh’s mother.
“The doctor told me her hairstyle saved her life,” Tanya recalled. “Had it been different, she might not be here.”
This isn’t the first time Nevaeh has experienced bullying. Two years ago, another student broke her thumb.

I’m walking into that school like

Hate crime. It should qualify as one.

Nevaeh is thirteen years old. This happened at Gompers School in the Philadelphia School District. The school district has not issued any comment, but y'all can make yours:

This happened October 25, 2018. This isn’t some random post that won’t die. It’s happening now. Call. Demand accountability and this be treated as a hate crime.

The engrained feminine response to external disapproval is something I won’t be able to shake for a long time and I know it. To this day when I realize I have made a mistake or let someone down in any capacity I am instantly overcome with the need to move, to bend, to shift, to make whatever space I think they need to show it was just a fluke, look at all I’ll do now to overcompensate, look at all the ways I can be competent, watch me stitch it back together twofold in half the time, I’ll be ashamed, I’ll be ashamed, I know better I promise I do, watch me reject myself for you, I can fix it for you, just please don’t think I’m any less whole for it. Please don’t stop recognizing the bare bones of my existence. Anything but that. I’ll die if it’s that

I want to know about the things going on in the world, and be an educated participant in society

but psychologically and biologically I can’t live my life to a continuous background chant of “everything is awful, everything is awful, everything is awful,”

and I still don’t really know where the balance is.
