Yarn is so scary 'cause you'll look down and there'll be so much of it and there'll be so much of it for so long. Like I think it'll never run out. The all of a sudden you look down and there's nothing left.
Like I don't know what the manufacturers are putting it in to make it do that but it sure isn't yarn.

Do not punish the behaviour you want to see
I mean, it seems pretty obvious when you put it like that, right?
But how many families, when an introvert sibling or child makes an effort to socialize,Β snarkily say,Β βSo, youβve decided to join usβ?
Or when someone does something theyβve had trouble doing, say,Β βWhy canβt you do that all the time?β (Happened to me, too often.)
Or any sentence containing the wordΒ βfinallyβ.Β
If someone makes a step, a small step, in a direction you want to encourage, encourage it. Donβt complain about how itβs not enough. Donβt bring up previous stuff. Encourage it.
Because I swear to fucking god there is nothing more soul-killing, more motivation-crushing, than struggling to succeed and finding out that success and failure are both punished.
Encouragement and acknowledgment are so much more effective than punishment.
