.ooc hey I think we RP'd back in the day! I hope you're well. I love looking back at my old threads and stories. I was in a rough place and the LOTR/Hobbit roleplay community really helped me get through it all. Have a great day.

Shea was livid, she wanted to scream at her boyfriend. But maybe he didn’t mean it, maybe it was a misunderstanding. It was her big opening night, surely he wouldn’t have forgotten. Something must have come up. Walking in to the apartment in her black leggings and baggy shirt she dropped her bag in the hall with an unnecessarily loud bang in the hall. Oh she was fuming.

Fili was at home, but the fact of the matter was that he had every intention of showing up to Shea’s performance. However, there was something horrible going around the office and he seemed to have picked up the bug. Immediately after work, he rushed home to take an aspirin and maybe sneak in a short nap. Unfortunately, the bug had completely zapped him that he slept through his alarm. Hearing the bang, he let out a grunt in their bedroom and pulled the comforter over his head.

Like the good and obedient son that he was, Fili laid back on the mattress and remained still as the warmth of the blanket covered his body. Letting out a yawn, he began to close his eyes when he heard another voice address him. Recognizing that the voice was Shea’s, his eyes opened completely and he turned his head to face the doorway. “Horrific...” he answered her, his voice sounding akin to the whine of a sick child. Not noticing the wine glass in her hand, he drew in another breath to speak. “I...I’m so sorry that I missed your show tonight. Hope...it went well....wanted to come...” His eyes were a bit watery from how ill he felt from the bug that he caught and from the guilt that ate him inside.

“No, it’s not okay for her to think that I am not interested in her shows, mother,” Fili groaned out in frustration. “I hurt Shea without absolutely no intention, and I honestly don’t blame her if she hates me forever...” A defeated look was clearly evident in his eyes, and it appeared as if he was ready to accept the fact that he was lying on his death bed. As addled as his mind felt, he tried to think of ways to make up for his gaffe--only to have all possible solutions stomped into the ground by what Dis said about all shows selling out. A fresh look of pain washed over his features, leaving him feeling absolutely defeated. “There’s got to be a way for me to make it into one of the shows...who do I need to pay off? Maybe I can sleep with someone in exchange for a ticket...” Fili was clearly not thinking, as his ill body had seemed to zap him of common sense.

As soon as he heard the bedroom door open, Fili released his grip on the comforter. He didn’t want his mother to see how wound up he had gotten from the bits and pieces of the conversation that he heard. Besides, he was sure that he looked like hell--anything more would make it seem as if he were dying. Allowing his mother to tend to him, he just could not believe his ears when he heard what she had asked him. A look of pain was clearly evident in his eyes, and in his weakened state tears had actually begun to form.

“Did I just hear correctly?” he questioned his mother quietly, clearing his throat as the vapor from the rub made his neck and nose tingle. “I wanted to be there for Shea more than anything. It isn’t like I got myself sick on purpose,” he began, rubbing his brow. “I just barely managed to make it home without getting into a wreck. I thought I had sent a message to Shea, and I thought that I’d be able to sleep this off like I had before...” At that point, he just stopped trying to explain things away, as thinking was making his head hurt even more. “Damn me for not getting my shot this year.”

Setting his bowl on the night table, Fili laid back down and closed his eyes. His head was throbbing and he lifted his hands to massage his temples to try to get it to stop. Unfortunately, his rubbing did nothing to alleviate his pain. As much as he tried to hold on, he finally decided to take some aspirin to at least find some relief. Groaning, he sat back up again and gingerly reached over for the bottle of aspirin. Opening the bottle, he popped two pills into his mouth and chased it down with some water before forcing down more of his soup.

It was then that she heard a sound even more painful than how his headache felt coming from the kitchen. Immediately, he felt his stomach lurch violently. He knew that sound--it was one that most men hated the most. Although he couldn’t make out most of what Shea said, he could manage hearing the words “press,” “asked,” and “single.” Crumpling back down on the bed, his hand fisted in the comforter. “Fuck...” he moaned weakly, pounding the mattress. “Fuck...fuck...fuck...” If Shea decided to hate him forever, so be it.

Fili could practically feel an icy wind sweet through the room as Shea left to answer the door. Quite honestly, he had lost his desire to eat the soup that she had brought him. He could see very clearly how upset she was, and his stomach turned into knots over the guilt that he felt for causing her to feel that way. Although he knew that it wasn’t his fault missing her show, Fili still felt as if he was the lowest man on earth. With a sigh, he dipped his spoon into the soup to force himself to eat it. The last thing he wanted to do was upset her further by seeming to refuse the soup that she had prepared for him.

He had just gotten through almost half a dozen spoonfuls when he heard his mother’s voice in the living room. Furrowing his brow, he blinked a couple of times. Was that who he happened to text? Slowly straightening up, he strained listen to his mother and Shea were talking about. He couldn’t quite make out what they were saying, but from the tone of his mother’s voice it seemed as if she was concerned--presumably about his health. Taking another sip, he waited for more of the conversation to unfold. For a moment he considered hobbling over to the living room but thought better of it when his head started to pound again.

A heavy sigh came from Fili’s chest when he picked up on Shea’s very obvious disappointment. Groaning, he shut his eyes to block out the sight of her looking so upset and so defeated. What else could he say after she asked what she asked? He wanted to see her perform--he really did, especially since her talent made him feel like the luckiest man in the world. In the muck and mire of his mind, he could have sworn that he texted her. Was it just his imagination? Was his mind playing tricks on him. Sighing again, he began to feel sick to his stomach. With his eyes still closed, he heard her walk into the room. She at least deserved an answer to her question, and after taking in a breath, he mustered enough courage and strength to respond. “I thought I texted you...” As if on cue there was a knock on their front door. Did he really text or or did he text someone else? Who?

At last, after what seemed like an eternity, Fili tipped over and ended up on his back right on his side of the bed. He groaned softly and rubbed his temples, completely frustrated over how weak and helpless he felt. Managing to pick up on Shea’s voice, he groaned again, trying to form an answer loud enough for her to hear. He was feeling even worse about seeming to be oblivious to his girlfriend’s calls, and he opened his eyes just enough to see her standing in the doorway to the room. Although his vision was bleary, he could see from her stance that she was not pleased at all. Taking a breath, he managed to say softly, “I should have gotten that flu shot this year...gods, I hope it’s not the flu...”

Fili tried to get up and out of bed while Shea was still in the shower, but he was feeling so light headed that he simply flopped over and fell into a light sleep. He could hear her shuffling around quickly in their room, and he made an attempt to open his eyes. By the time he managed to get them open she was gone. Groaning again, he forced himself to sit up to go follow her to wherever she had wandered off to. He knew that he had messed up, but he honestly didn’t do it on purpose. Nobody purposely gets himself or herself sick. Sitting up, his eyes shut once more and he teetered back and forth, back and forth, threatening to flop back onto his back.

As Shea blustered through their bedroom, Fili remained completely submerged in his fluffy cocoon of warmth. He let out a murmur as she walked past the bed, the sheets bubbling slightly as he shifted positions. Perhaps it was merciful for him to be oblivious to the hurricane that had blown through, as the sight of her upset would have made him feel even worse. A tickle formed in his throat and he let out a cough, and then two, and then a whole string of them. Finally emerging from the comforter, he opened his eyes and let out a little whine. Was that the shower going? He glanced over at the closed bathroom door and realized that Shea was home. It was then that something dawned upon him. “Fuck...”

Excited radiated in the air around them. “Oh Fili look! It’s the yugioh voice acting cast!” She gasped excitedly! “Come on! I always wanted to meet Dan Green, he is amazing! He voices Yugi!” She gushed already getting flustered. She paid for her and Fili’s tickets to meet them and were given posters for autographs. “I can’t believe we are going to meet them!”

Avatar

Fili just could not get over how excited Shea was to be at the convention. She seemed to be acting like a kid on Christmas morning, and he certainly didn’t blame her one bit. It was great to see her in high spirits, and as long as she was happy he was happy.

“Alright, I’m coming,” he snickered as he did his best to keep up with her. The crowd was thick, and he had to fight his way through the crowd to keep from losing sight of her.
