- when he gets home hes a horrifically slow driver to the point where hes pulled over 5 times per week on average, but the cops always seem to understand when they see who it is - he’s terrified of thunder storms and he hates it– they remind him of the nights in the hab when he would watch the ceiling anxiously and listen to the planet shake - he goes almost a full year without eating a potato, but he doesnt hate them. he finds it hard to hate the thing that kept him alive and with company for so long - certain disco songs actually trigger him to go into anxiety attacks (lewis apologizes profusely; hes not angry with her) - he finds showering everyday to be uncomfortable but he loves water; he swims whenever he can and just revels in the fact that hes not d r y for once - he cries when he first sees his mom and dad and he tells his mom how her emails kept him going - when his logs get to earth he loves that they motivate so many people to go into science and he LOVES becoming a meme (“im gonna have to science the shit out of this” “fuck you mars”) - he lovingly reads through as much of his fanmail as possible and he has a room dedicated to it, with art and short stories and poems people sent him. occasionally he’ll write back but it takes a lot out of him - he has a shirt that says “fuck you mars” on it - when he first meets mindy park he just grabs her and hugs her and thanks her for realizing that he was alive; she just blushes and pats his back awkwardly - he and rich go out for drinks and they become good friends!! - the crew become closer than ever and mark is the best man at beck’s wedding - mark adopts a cat and just enjoys the quiet company - he gets overwhelmed at crowded functions and martinez always has him covered when he needs to disappear outside for awhile - he starts a youtube channel and just talks abt his experience on mars and his love of science and why botany IS a real science - he spends so much time outside, just breathing in the life and the air and the scents of earth - his favorite photo on his instagram is the one of him posing on top of his “grave” with a rose in his mouth (martinez took it)
