Hi! I am happy to let you know we're working on an announcement when I manage to finish some new graphics.

This project is currently in the hands of one person and due to real life, I haven't had time to keep track of events and happenings around the fandom so sadly I'm not able to give you any definite info. However, I can suggest checking out @opfandombase because they do track what's happening in the fandom.

There's also the OPLootChest on Twitter, they RT event and zine announcements. While currently inactive, there is also @op-pirate-fleet which should be running smaller creative events soon too.

Sorry I wasn't of more help, but I hope you find some events to do in the meantime!

Thank you for your question (and sorry it took us this long to reply)!

Let me start off by saying we appreciate the interest and the wish to participate in a Big Bang event. It is really great knowing there's always interest for this!

We've decided to take a break from the event and the blog for a while.

With a miniscule change in our team, we are considering coming back with something more low key to start later this year or early next year, depending on real life obligations and other fandom projects.

Based on feedback received during every previous run, we want to preface this by saying the rules of posting will not be changing this time either; all posting will be happening on each team's designated day. The Big Bang is a great unique challenge for many writers and it's been a fan favorite for many years, and we want to honor that and the spirit of the OPBB as it's been conceived since it's beginning.

What we are changing is the base word count (for something lower and more chill to take the pressure off) compared to the previous years. We would also like to incorporate a sort of theme to the event to encourage writers to step outside their comfort zone a bit and trust in their fellow creators to choose a concept based on the idea rather than the popularity of the characters involved.

One Piece is an incredibly vast universe with a rich cast of characters so we would be excited to host a BB focused more on that range of characters and pairings that maybe don't get as represented normally. We hesitate to call it strictly a rarepair event, since Gen content is most welcome and much appreciated as always.

With so many amazing zines and projects coming out lately, it's becoming increasingly clear that the fandom as diverse as this one holds interest for so many themes and characters, and we'd be delighted to hold an event that brings all these ideas together.

Any official announcements will be happening when we get closer to figuring the logistics of everything out. We're open to questions at any time, but this time around, we will be deleting any negativity or hate should any be sent to us.

We've received the same question from @pencilmagiciann and @aibhilin-atibeka so I'm tagging you instead of replying to the same ask more than once.

My second illustration for this year’s One Piece Big Bang @opbigbang. I created this together with my nakama, The-Replicant, who made the layout (or “name”, if you prefer) and most of the lineart. I split the file into two parts (hopefully Tumblr won’t mess up with the image this way), but this is a single strip.

Summary: 

“What do you mean I didn’t fight five sea kings with only a dagger? I did!” The red-haired pirate asked incredulously.

“Benn shot half of them because you were drunk.”

“What? How do you know that! Benn, you swore to secrecy!”

“I didn’t tell him Captain.”

“Luffy who told you that?”

Luffy points to the shore. “She did.”

The Ocean’s voice snickers and Luffy mirrors it as the Captain looks between the waters lapping playfully at the shore and the kid with the grin like his captain.

It’s a funny look, the kind men get when they see a tsunami bearing down on their head with no hope of escape. The face goes pale and the eyes go wide, and nothing save for the ocean has quite managed to produce this look.

The Ocean is most definitely pleased with her child.

“Oh hell.” The sailor swears, and she nods her head in agreement.

Oh Hell indeed– but he will bring that and more.

Or: There’s a devil in Luffy’s chest, the Ocean is the Voice of All Things, and Makino balances running a bar and falling in love with the Ocean herself.

This is my story for this year’s One Piece Big Bang @opbigbang​. The preview logo is by me, while my partner for this project made three gorgeous illustrations based on my fanfic. I’m really grateful to her for being willing to collaborate with me on such a niche story and for her amazing art.  <3 I started writing this story more than 2-3 years ago–I don’t even remember anymore–and I’m happy I was finally able to complete it.
