The Overseer

@yisariach-blog / yisariach-blog.tumblr.com

IC blog for Yisariach Shadowlight, lord of the Shadow Realm and Grand Overseer. "Chaos isn't a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some, are given a chance to climb. They refuse, they cling to the realm or the gods or love. Illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is."

So, I hear there's some new Bronze dragon who's knocked up your daughter,

“.......................Which one, the one who failed to fend off Garrosh Hellscream or the one who can’t even touch a wall without dousing himself in hand sanitizer afterwards?”

Alexstrasza smiled lightly, closing her eyes and humming. She turned around to gaze up at Yisariach, tilting her head. “What is it?”

"I just….you cannot really trust the rumor mill, you know." He rubbed the back of his neck, an almost embarrassed smile on his face. "…I—I mean…you know…considering it’s…mine and all…"

Alex giggled and skipped back over to him, leaning up on her tip-toes to kiss his cheek. “You’re adorable, did I ever tell you that, Yis?”

He cleared his throat, a dark blush covering his cheeks. “Y—You might have mentioned that once or twice…” He folded his arms, one long ear twitching. “…D—Do…do you know what you want it to be…?”

"I would like to have a daughter," she replied, looking down and resting her hands on her stomach. Her smile was warm, motherly. She was a matriarch, sure, but this would be one of the few she would carry in her mortal form. "What about you?" Her gaze returned to him then, her smile widening at his blush.

"A daughter." The thought made Yisariach's heart clench. He pulled Alexstrasza into his arms, stroking her fiery hair with one long fingered, white hand. "...It...it doesn't matter. What matters is who they will become." He pressed his lips to her forehead, closing his eyes.

"Perhaps they will be as beautiful as you, my fire."

"I heard news."

His golden eyes flashed, his pale hair whipping around his fair face. “Is it true? Are you…?” He pointed to her stomach.

She grinned up at him, her horns gone for once to let her crimson mane run free. “If you heard the news why do I have to deny or confirm anything?” she teased, taking a few steps away from him.

"You're mine."

"For the last time, I do not belong to you!” The Dragonqueen hissed, stepping away from the Overseer. Even if the distance didn’t help, it calmed her enough to continue this battle of wills between them.

Yisariach chuckled darkly to himself, stepping up to her and stroking her cheek with one dark skinned hand. “And what makes you think that you do not, my dear…?” His golden eyes flashed briefly. He enjoyed playing this sort of game with her, up to a certain point, that is. “You are mine, but I am yours…equally beneficial.”

She slapped his hand away, turning her back to him. “I ceased being yours when you returned to the darkness. You have given me no reason to trust you, and so I kindly ask that you do not touch me again, Overseer.”

He laughed again coldly, staring at her hungrily. "Other than giving you that blessed little daughter of ours? I kept you safe all these bloody years...now that I actually have some time to spend with you, you're angry with me. I do not quite understand that."

"Another one of my daughter's beloved collection of draconic lovers, hmm? How pathetic..."

"Pleased to make your acquaintance too, Luna has told me much about you."

"I'm sure she has..." He studies the bronze with curious gold eyes. "Funny. She never mentioned you...Kairozdormu. The traitor of the bronze flight...seems like her standards have dropped drastically."

"Well then...you certainly have not changed."

Alexstrasza crossed her arms defensively, having not expected to see the Observer anytime soon. “You have not changed either, Observer…”

I passed out the moment they left me alone!" Alexstrasa roared at him. "By the time I had woken Luna was gone and no one could tell me what had happened! You weren’t there to stop it!!

"Because I had to return to my duties!" Yisariach boomed furiously. "I COULD NOT JUST ABANDON THE SHADOW! It would have killed you, Luna, and myself had I done such a thing!"

She stepped away from him, leveling him with a scathing glare. “And you think I could just rush out in my state? I would have chased after her had I the strength. But I didn’t. So don’t you dare…” Her voice quivered, thick with sorrow. “Don’t you dare blame me for this…”

Yisariach's face hardened.

"She was hiding within plain sight of you and you overlooked her...How could you have done such a thing? Why didn't you do more?!" His voice rose once again.  "A simple high elven witch managed to outsmart you...pathetic."

"I was weak, Yisariach! By the time I could stand she was long gone! I can’t even recall if I got to hold her!” She snapped, the pain of loss still fresh in her mind.

"Weak? Too weak to command your guards to keep an eye on her?"Yisariach’s smile vanished, and his eyes flared. "You did nothing. NOTHING."

A righteous snarl ripped forth from her vocal chords. She pointed a claw-tipped finger into his face, golden eyes blazing. “You listen here, and you listen good. She is not some property to be tossed around. If she wants my guardianship, then she will have it for as long as she wants it. I will not abandon her like you did, Yisariach.”

"I abandoned her?!"

A dark, rippling laugh rumbled from the Overseer’s chest. “I was not the one who let her be taken the eve of her birth, need I remind you. I was the one who ensured that that…witch did not kill her. I defied the very command of my master to keep her safe. What did you do, my dear?”
