Fic: Just A Spark (a ‘Burning Bright’ Prequel)
Fic: Just A Spark (prequel to Burning Bright) Rating: G Summary: A rewrite of (some of) the season 3 finale, in which Neal survives Zelena and so accompanies Emma back to the past instead of Hook, and thus meets his father in full Dark One mode.
A/N: Yes this is a prequel to Burning Bright, but it also works fine as a standalone. I might rewrite more scenes from these episodes but it’d be a mammoth job, and I love the Rumple scenes most :D.
Also this was written for the @nealfirexchange, and my lovely giftee @yewrose, who specifically wanted Rumple and Neal family relationship, Swanfire, and a rewrite AU. I hope you like it!
“Well, there it is,” Neal sighs, gesturing reluctantly to the Dark Castle high on the hill. “The stolen family seat, in all its glory.”
“It’s a little more imposing than the pawn shop,” Emma mutters. “Your dad really lives there?”
“In this time and place?” Neal shrugs, “Yep. Dark One’s got to have his castle, otherwise how could everyone know to be afraid of him? Speaking of which, you’ve got to be careful in there, even more than is usual with him.”
