Because the Halo is sentient, and because Beatrice understands Morse Code, sometimes the Halo talks to her when Ava’s fast asleep.
The first night Ava comes back, the Halo blinks “she heard you” before adding a “at the portal”.
Oftentimes, it tells her about Ava’s day. A she missed you here, and a she wasn’t okay there. Once, it exhausted itself just to spell out she didn’t mean to yell at you and she really is sorry.
Sometimes, Beatrice talks to it, too. She whispers things she didn’t have the courage to say out loud during the day, opting to confess them in the Halo’s divine warmth. “Thank you,” she says one night, stroking Ava’s hair. “For keeping her safe.”
Once, when Ava’s recovering in Jillian’s med bay after a serious injury, the Halo glows weakly, in front of everyone. It’s stuck on one word, “-... . .-”. Jillian asks if the Halo’s malfunctioning, the OCS answer in unison no.
At Beatrice and Ava’s wedding, the Halo signals I do in time to Ava’s answer. (It signals out other phrases during their consummation, but Beatrice can’t really see them, not when Ava hovers above her, dark eyes staring into her soul.)
And when they’re expecting their first child, the Halo does something completely new and unexpected: it turns a soft shade of pink for them, before going back to its normal golden hue and blinking “congrats”.
Expanding on the idea of a sentient halo is this thought.
Beatrice notices it first and does her best not to make fun of Ava for it. Once things are more clam, apparently the halo starts to get a little judgy or more discerning with its' energy output when it comes to healing certain injuries.
Beatrice realizes that the halo takes longer to heal injuries caused by Ava's own foolishness. It seems that any injury or malady that's not deadly or debilitating is subject to the halo's judgment.
Ava gets tackled off of a balcony by a wraith-possessed goon? The halo works at full strength to heal and get Ava back up. Ava falls off the porch railing because she tried to use it as a balance beam? According to the halo she can deal with an simple sprained ankle for a day or two.
Beatrice figures it makes sense, the halo is putting out so much energy to keep her alive already, why would the halo drain itself completely because Ava wouldn't see reason and neglected to wear a winter coat during snowfall. The halo's providing her a perfectly working immune system, she just needs to learn to treat it better.
Sometimes Ava swears the halo and Beatrice are conspiring against her.
Of course the Halo and Beatrice are conspiring against Ava!
Ava: *gets hurt for stupid reasons*
The Halo: eh, she needs to learn
(But the Halo heals Ava’s seasonal flu as fast as possible because she’s the whiny type and the Halo’s like Bea’s been through enough *heals the idiot*.)

Many heart eyes. 😍 They've created an actual masterpiece here - I wish I'd had more time to capture every last detail the artists have worked into make-up, costume and wings - absolutely incredible. Enjoyed every moment I spent on this drawing. 🖤

Episode 1x10 - Revelations 2:10
🎬 The filming location: We take you to the Real Fábrica de Tabacos at the University of Seville. Some small scenes of episode 1x09 - Corinthians 10:4 took place indoors but the biggest takes place outdoors, in the final episode, in the first two courtyards of the main entrance of the building.
🎞️ Warrior Nun is one of our favorites of 2020, so when we saw that the most epic scene of season 1 took place in Seville we jumped at the chance 😁

🎬 Le lieu de tournage : On vous emmène à la Real Fábrica de Tabacos à l'Université de Séville. Quelques petites scènes de l'épisode 1x09 - Corinthiens 10:4 se sont déroulées à l'intérieur mais le plus gros se passe en extérieur, dans l'episode final, dans les deux premières cours de l'entrée principale du bâtiment.
🎞️ Warrior Nun est un de nos coups de coeur 2020, alors quand on a vu que la scène la plus épique de la saison 1 s'est déroulée à Séville on a sauté sur l'occasion 😁
