14. Silly Wrestling
Dipper couldn’t quite recall how the two of them could have possibly wound up in this position. Teases and playful taunts probably had something to do with it if he had to guess, as well as playful shoving and nudging until they ended up in a scuffle. He had just rolled atop her, pinning her down though was careful not to be rough. A smirk played on his lips, quirking a brow.
“Why don’t you just admit defeat now before you mess up your hair?”

And it wasn’t a complete lie; he was exhausted, but not enough to crave sleep. The thoughts of Bill haunted his every waking moment, every thought, every chance his mind had to wander--there He was. There was no escape from this Hell, not while Bill continued to run a muck. How could anyone sleep at a time like this?
It was no better in his dreams--Or nightmares, rather. He’d rather suffer without sleep than succumb to a night of unrest trapped in his subconscious.
“You go on ahead without me. I’ll catch up later,” That, however, was a lie.
"Oh, don't go anywhere. I'll be back to destroy you in a minute."

Dipper nearly complied--albeit unwillingly--with the demon’s request; his legs so weak with fear that he found himself petrified. It took every ounce of sheer will and force to find the ability to run the moment Bill looked away, dashing as fast as his little legs could carry. He could hear his heart pounding in his eardrums, feeling sick to his stomach with fear as he bounded across the wreckage. If he could just find a spot to hide, any spot--perhaps he could lose him.
But that was a very big if.

Dipper lazily watched as Pacifica murmured to herself, laying a pink blouse pulled from the rack onto her arm. He supposed it was; truth be told, they all were beginning to look no different from each other on the rack.
He mirrored the smile she flashed at him, playfully rolling his eyes at her words. He put his hands up in playful surrender. “Plenty good,” He replied with amusement, and by the time he looked at her again there was already a pair of jeans hanging with the pink blouse. She was fast.
“Don’t worry, I wouldn’t have believed you,” He said with a playful smirk, nudging her lightly.
“Anything I can do to help? Or am I just your bag carrier when you’re done?”

A soft sigh left him at her words, though as she cuddled closer his expression softened slightly. A light blush colored his cheeks at just how near she was. Her words only deepened the red tint, even causing a small and sincere smile to lightly pull at his lip’s corners.
He put his arms around her, embracing her gesture. She wasn’t always one for such canoodling; he’d take it while he could.Her warmth was comforting and soothing, and he silently hoped she wouldn’t pull away too soon.
“They’re just another way of saying loser; believe me I’ve heard it all to know,” And all those names and more were all too familiar. His tone was casual and matter-of-fact.
He hesitated before looking away, brows furrowed as he studied the wall. Perhaps he’d said too much, perhaps he was just being over sensitive--it was likely...Matter-of-fact, even. Of course she hadn’t meant it in such a way, he knew that. At least, not anymore.
But still, what she saw as affectionate names and likable traits he saw as loathsome.
“It’s stupid, I know,”

The tears came fast and hard, turning quickly into sobs of despair. Now that the shock and numbness of watching it happen- of watching her best friend and beloved pet be torn to shreds- was gone, Mabel could only feel the grief. It had been horrible. Traumatic, even. Something that would surely stay with her for years to come.
She fell into Dipper’s embrace gratefully, hiding her head in his chest. She was shaking with the sheer force of her cries, her only physical support being her brother holding her. The loss had taken away all the will to hold herself up. She just wanted to crumple to the ground.
“Dip- Dipper-” She tried to go on, but her words came out choked and forced. The distraught girl gripped tightly onto Dipper, her arms finding their way around him and latching herself onto him. She couldn’t bare to support herself right now- not with how completely shattered she felt.
“It’s okay, it’s okay--” He whispered again and again, eyes squeezed shut as he held his sister close. He rubbed soft circles to her back, and with every sob that left her lips he felt his heart crumble within his chest piece by piece.
He knew his words were a lie--it was no where near okay. Of course the logical part of him knew it was simply just a matter of nature. The wolf had no malicious intent; only to feed itself to stay alive and nothing more. It was the flow of the world, no different than the plants and insects Waddles devoured.
But of course, it wasn’t so simple. He wasn’t a wild pig, or a farmer’s pig--he was a pet, a friend, family even. That little pig meant the world to her, and even he himself felt that loss. Of course Waddles was Mabel’s--but he’d be missed. He could feel the tears stinging his eyes now as they opened, and he swallowed thickly. A lump was forming, he could feel it.
“If it means anything to you Mabel,” And in the moment, he doubted it did, “At least he went fast. He didn’t have to suffer,” But even knowing that, it only made him picture the scene. He took a deep breath, trying to shake it but couldn’t; and he couldn’t imagine how many times the real moment had played in his sister’s head. He’d give anything to make things right again. “I’m so sorry Mabel,” He said, knowing it was nothing but an empty four words.

“Yup.” The blonde teen continued to play with his hair while smirking. “You’re odd and a dork.” She wouldn’t lie and never would have lied about that; even before they started dating. Thing is, he tended to see ‘odd’ as a negative thing and not as the interesting dorky quirk she could see. “I thought you knew this.”
In response to her quickly answered, blunt truth his expression turned sarcastic.
“Try not to hold back the honesty,” Dipper scoffed, eyes eventually drifting from hers. He didn’t find either words very endearing; not when they were used more often than not as negative terms. They were nothing more than synonyms of strange or freaky, weirdo or loser--all unconventional and looked down upon to most;a label he couldn’t seem to escape, not even to her.
The teen gave a soft exhale, shrugging his shoulders.
“Yeah...Guess I was hoping you’d give me a different answer. You’d say I was cool..or something,” He said, forcing a soft smile mildly laced with amusement.
“Next time, feel free to lie,”

The Swan Princess Starter Sentences
“Well, you’re gonna have to get over it.” Pacifica paid no mind to Dipper’s comment as she continued searching through the rack of blouses. “You could always leave. I’m not forcing you to shop with me.” She turned briefly to flash a smirk before turning back to her hunt for the perfect blouse.
A small huff left the teen as his elbow leaned against a nearby rack. He watched as she shuffled through another row of blouses, all pretty but they all tended to simply blur together in his eyes.
He never quite could grasp the idea of shopping for pleasure; it always seemed like a tedious task to him. He hated clothes hunting himself, disliked having to try on outfits that required such, and found himself shy when speaking to sales clerks.
“I just get whatever looks okay at a decent price and bolt, I can’t believe people can spend hours doing this,” He rambled casually, giving a lose shrug of his shoulders.
At her out he didn’t say anything, instead looking away. He knew he could; However, despite his mild complaining, it wasn’t the worst thing in the world. He would even admit it wasn’t that bad at all. He enjoyed her company, and could find contentment in watching her so focused. Not to mention the possibility of her showing off the pretty outfits she tried on--he would, in fact, find that quite enjoyable.
“What are you looking for, anyway? You look like you’re on a mission.”
