The old school lack of transparency on tumblr is amazing because you assume the people you follow must all be equivalent to you and then you see someone write “I brought my youngest to college today” and someone else write “my mom wouldn’t let me listen to Ariana Grande when I was a kid” and then your head explodes

Then I'm just like WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU’RE AN ADULT

It goes the other way, too, because WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU'RE A CHILD?!!

I'm 16, that's like, barely a child

I'm in my 30s. You are baby

I'm older than both of you in a trenchcoat.

honestly one of the best things we can do for ourselves is realize that people of different ages than us can still be the same kind of person as us. it's humbling and it gives everyone involved a sense of continuity, and it busts those stupid generational stereotypes media is so fond of.

A few years back, Spockslash, a 79 year old grandmother who was part of the first generation of slashfic writers, used to post here. She died of cancer and her son posted one last time to let us all know she had passed away and how much she had enjoyed being on Tumblr.

I have been here for nearly 10 years now and I was in my mid 40's then.

My youngest child got on Tumblr when they were 11.

No one knows how old you are on Tumblr unless you tell them and I think that is very cash money of Tumblr.

this is a way better model... you'll still get transphobic & intersexist drs of course but i prefer this to male / female or even having separate questions for gender & sex.

[we can't see the full form, but i'd suggest having a "something else" option and dominant hormone question too.]

as a cis woman who's had a hysterectomy and partial oophorectomy, this would be helpful for me, too! it'd be pointless to try to diagnose me for disorders that affect organs I don't have anymore, after all.

being inclusive helps us ALL. 💖

1947-1963: Everyday life in Alginet, a town in the Valencian Country.

All these photos were taken by Ismael Latorre Mendoza and are part of his archive available online.

Workers, 1947.

Orange pickers, 1948.

Going to get water from the fountain, 1949. Before running water was available in houses, going to the public fountain to fetch water was part of the domestic labour that women did every day.

Washing clothes in the wash basin, 1950.

Laying the sweet potatoes, 1951.

The photographer Laura Canet Lozano organizing photos in the studio, 1956.

Women playing basketball, 1958.

Work, 1959.

Workers sorting tomatoes in the Alginet cooperative, 1963.

Lastly, this one is not from Alginet but the nearby town Picassent, but it’s part of the same archive.

Onion pickers near Torre d’Espioca. Picassent, 1947. Here they have stopped working and are posing for the photo, but picking onions is a very harsh job, physically demanding because onions (like potatoes) grow at ground level, meaning that the workers have to work with their backs bent or on their knees.

Once again, if someone tries to convince you that women historically haven’t worked outside of doing domestic labour at home, they’re wrong and probably trying to sell you something.

I really feel like tumblr’s fallen down on the job in not properly celebrating this very important holiday

Should go without saying but never date a cop and christ never marry one. Rule of thumb if he's legally untouchable he's ethically unfuckable. You don't like that cop, you like buff men in tight clothing. I can show you more of those, better ones. Take my hand.

Hi guys. This post ain't about stereotyping random professions (farriers????), it's about how cops are effectively legally untouchable and if they hurt you, you have virtually no recourse. A quality that none of those other professions have. It's the inherent power imbalance of being bound to someone who can't be prosecuted.

The "firemen cheat" thing is actually a myth, union workers are both hot and professionally stable, paramedics are stressed out but otherwise fine, physical workers are not inferior to "thinkers" don't be fuckin classist, and "watch out for Farriers" is maybe the funniest thing anyone's ever said on this post.

like the fuck are they gonna do lmao

Having beef with the horse cobbler is objectively hilarious
