Baldur's Gate long fanfic feature - A Cappella

Another list of chapters lurks below the cut, this time Silrana’s A Cappella, begun in 2001.  Out of the collective wisdom of TVTropes, this was the first Baldur’s Gate fic rec'ced on that site - a story through Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal, complete, about the adventures of a skald who romances Jaheira.  The writing is capable and the directions the story takes are, at times, epic.

To Silrana and the Baldur's Gate 2 Fan Fic: A Capella

To this day my favourite Baldur's Gate fanfic, and the main reason of wanting to do a Skald playthrough to follow the story myself as the canon version of the game.

This is actually very normal human behavior. It's just that most people (in the USA) think "Jesus strengthens me" instead of "I am a pikmin, dandori time"

This is literally why stories and fantasy are so useful to humans. We cannot tackle every mundane challenge with enthusiasm, and facing against profoundly daunting tasks can be deeply demoralizing, and you don’t get to feel cool or heroic for filing 400 pieces of paperwork.

We arm ourselves with stories and fantasy, so that the laundry can become a charming hurdle to overcome, and the daunting stack of bills is the leviathan we the brave knights must slay.

Humans have always been like this. So many cultures have stories or mythology or even rituals about literally embodying another being better suited to the challenge one currently faces.

Stories are armor. Stories are fuel.

I had this idea for a looping animation in which a single dot has a pretty long loop, but the animation as a whole is much shorter. Because of the repetition this animation is only 1 second long!

Terry Pratchett’s Reaper Man was published in 1991, wherein Death saw the invention of the combine harvester and promptly rejected it as too impersonal.

So this idea has been around for a long long while

Probably as long as combine harvesters existed.

Hopefully. If the idea exited prior to the combine harvester it means someone took that idea of mass death harvesting and turned it into an actual machine.

I walk into the same damn kitchen wall at least once every other day. That's on a good week. Wtf is wrong with me that I cannot learn where the wall is located?? It never moves, but I can't stop walking face-first directly into it.
