I GOT A FUCKING RAISE THE POTATO WORKED WTF
listen. cable tv has its flaws but I do miss the spontaneity of it. like yeah I could go onto a streaming platform and search for Shrek any time I want, but something just hits different about flipping through channels at midnight and finding out Shrek is on
watching a movie at home circa like, 2001 was like
- put your TV on channel 2 so the VCR will work
- open up the clamp shell case that held the VHS that has that satisfying crrlikkkkkk
- put in the movie
- gdi it has to be rewound
- press STOP and then rewind because its so much faster that way
- start the movie and it takes a few seconds for the movie to actually start cause you rewound to the VERY beginning
- FBI will get you if you illegally distribute or exhibit this movie
- and then. because you forgot that movies are always so much louder than TV
COMING SOON TO OWN ON VIDEO AND DVD
- QUICK LOWER THE VOLUME LOWER THE VOLUME LOWER THE VOLUME OH FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Okay crisis averted.
- although. these ads are kind of quiet. a little hard to hear.....
- better turn up the volume...
THX
I GOT A FUCKING RAISE THE POTATO WORKED WTF
THIS POTATO BETTER BE WORKIN
Batshit WWDITS predictions
- Derek turns Guillermo but it does work so he bribes the Guide into doing it, that doesn’t work, Laszlo tries it for shits and giggles and the Nadja feels left out so she tries, none of them work either. Guillermo finds a loop hole around his dna and Nandor is finally the one to turn him (after a sort of acceptance from the vampires in his life, almost like them giving Guillermo their blessing)
- Guillermo turns into a vampire but can’t enter the home anymore because Nandor won’t let him in and Nadja and Laszlo aren’t touching that (Colin is enjoying a feast)
- Nandor in a fit of fury, pushes Guillermo into a stream of light and that’s how we find out he can survive in sunlight.
- Guillermo can no longer say his last name so he chooses a title like Nandor (ex, Guillermo the great, Guillermo the slayer, etc.) (Nandor suggests relentless but then pretends he didn’t say that)
- Once Guillermo is turned, Laszlo suddenly becomes overly interested in everything he says even if it’s stuff he already knows
- Guillermo introduces Nadja and Laszlo to emo music and turns out they wrote a bunch of them.
- Something goes wrong with Derek turning Guillermo, Nandor finds out and is so jealous that he starts begging Guillermo to let him turn him into a vampire
- Colin remembers his time as a child and tries to make it up to Laszlo by doing all the things they used to do together (cut to awkward scenes of a grown man in footie pajamas being read to in his too small race car bed and Colin accidentally over draining Laszlo while explaining the origins of LEGO)
- Laszlo goes to England to reconnect with the descendants of his bastard children and one of them is Freddie so he brings both Freddie’s back to the house
- Freddie clone unzips his skin and Marwa emerges looking beautiful as ever
- Nandor reads interview with a vampire
- Colin Robinson joins an improv group
- Nadja discovers true crime and realizes how many cold cases they’re all connected to (Guillermo included)
- Guillermo just takes a room and no one notices for months until Nadja realizes that her skulls have been moved.
- Nandor wishes to become human and has about a day of fun before he wants to go back to being a vampire. (He gets a sunburn)
- The guide discovers bullet journaling
- Sean becomes a vampire
- Sean is secretly Simon the devious in disguise
i don’t like to hijack other peoples posts so i’m just gonna say that i think people who still think that nandor didn’t grow in s4 aren’t paying enough attention imo. nandor wants to change, yes! but that doesn’t mean the change is immediate. it’s going to take time for multiple reasons.
from an in universe perspective you really have to keep in mind that in a lot of ways he is experiencing emotions for the first time. he is 800 years old, even if he did love some of his wives when he was human, he doesn’t actually remember it. and if he actually had loved one of them, his unfinished buisness wouldn’t have been to be reunited with a horse. like i do not think he understands what he is feeling or why he is doing the things he is because he has never felt these things before.
but aside from that the misinterpretation that he hasn’t grown as a character comes from thinking that what nandor did in s4 was intentionally malicious, when it was not. and that why the sort of blind anger at him does frustrate me.
nandor is wwdits central character. he just is. i’m sorry but that’s why his storyline can seem repetitive. his and guillermo’s relationship is the lynchpin of the show because guillermo represents humanity to him (to the others too, but not to the same degree) so the storyline of him wanting to find love, be happy etc will go on until the end just as guillermo’s search for vampirism and belonging will until they both realize and accept that those things go hand in hand. it’s not one storyline that can be resolved in one season like other things are, his and guillermo’s journey together is the arc that threads through the whole show.
so to say he hasn’t changed because there was no “oh.” moment or because he didn’t get down on his knees and beg is mind boggling to me. there is absolutely no way that in earlier seasons nandor would have stood there, looking guilty and ashamed for what he did, while guillermo yelled at him. and not only did he hear what guillermo was saying, he actively chose (in his backwards ways) to make it right with guillermo AND he admitted he was wrong. this is a big deal. he relented. for guillermo. because he realized he had hurt guillermo when he had obviously NOT meant to! because guillermo’s pain and humanity made him stop and actually absord what he had done in his selfish actions (“stop saying things i have done.”)
nandor’s search and his growth is not over, and until you stop treating him like an actual person who harmed guillermo and marwa instead of like a character in a story you’re not gonna grasp that because being upset at nandor and being upset at how a storyline was handled should be completely different things.
he still has two wishes because he still has to learn his lesson. it just couldn’t clearer that we have ways to go and nowhere to go but up.
You gave me attention and now you have to deal with the consequences
I can't get too mad about the Marwa thing. I can understand why it freaks people out, I understand the implications it could have and why instead of being something darkly absurdist, that hits some buttons for people they can't ignore. I can see where it failed, though frankly I haven't seen a single suggestion of an alternative that actually satisfies what this storyline is meant to do. And this storyline is very much meant to do something.
Maybe I was already ready to come out swinging about this because people have just flat out made things up about this character and this situation the whole season. I chew a little more drywall every time I hear a new statement that just never actually happened.
This has gotten very VERY long, please have a cut.
Another Nadja meta because I love her this season: in an era of girlbosses and independent women that can do no wrong seeing a woman fail because of her own faults is so interesting. And it goes back to the message of the show: no matter how powerful and loud you are it doesn’t make you “be in the right” and how important community is.
Nadja starts the club because SHE wants her own club before actually wanting to fix the house (and any other show we would be like “yas queen slay look how in charge she is”) but she runs into trouble before she even starts and she needs other people’s help (The Guide agreeing to start the work, Laszlo discovering her past and Guillermo convincing her and being the nightclub’s accountant), in The Grand Opening she convinces Richie to perform and to kill his familiar which puts her in danger and Laszlo, Nandor and Guillermo immediately run to help her and Colin performing mitigates the crowd, in The Night Market she ignores and yells at The Guide and the wraiths and their requests, she instead thinks she can manipulate the situation and outsmart everyone which doesn’t work because the wraiths simply kill the one that is in it for themself (really symbolic) and now in ep 9 she turns away her husband and his child leaving her alone to drink her sorrows (the club was built on all of them working together), we should be cheering look at her putting her feet down and being a woman that doesn’t listen to no man but she’s just sad and lonely and realises she’s lost the point of what made the club work all along.
Her and Nandor are very similar characters and I don’t see why people don’t often compare them: both seek power, both are extremely connected to their lives as humans that even if they’re the two oldest people in the house, centuries have passed from their deaths, they base most of their decisions and plans on their past, the loneliness that comes from pushing everyone away to chase their goals which leave them feeling empty after a very short period of euphoria. They both have such strong personalities that hide so much insecurity; I love their interactions during the wedding episode, yes Nadja is scolding Nandor because he’s putting a lot of stress on Guillermo but she’s a hypocrite she treats The Guide the same way and when Nandor grants those wishes she says she’s happy because she got what she wanted, I just love these two so much…
been seeing a lot of people say nadja is "mean" and like to each their own but that is kind of the opposite of how i read her character?
yes, she is rude and harsh and loud etc but something i really love about nadja is how her backstory of being unloved and bullied etc really shines through in moments where someone is really struggling.
she makes fun of nandor and gives him shit all the time, but when gail shows up she's SO protective of him and when nandor is depressed and says he's going to take a super slumber she is distraught about it! she cried and wrote him a letter.
she doesn't show affection toward guillermo, but she admits to HAVE it when they're discussing killing him because he is a slayer.
when they find out colin robinson is dying her entire demeanor changes, she gets soft and tender and she cuddles with him as he dies. she loves that boring man.
and ofc with laszlo she supports him when he "wins his case" and she's so happy when he gets home from his jackie daytona ordeal and runs into his arms.
she immediately accepts baby colin as her son, she cuddles with the racoons, she realizes she hasn't been paying enough attention to dolly nadja and actively changes her behavior as we see by their little matching outfits this season.
nadja is a very tender hearted person, but she has had to fight to survive and has learned to fend for herself. but i do not think she is this mean mega asshole people seem to think she is?
