No single line has ever wrecked me as hard as this one from the Good Place and I think about it constantly

ok but

One thing I really adore about this is Eleanor influenced a literal demon to change for the better. He changed because he wanted to be better and sees the value in it. But he mostly changed because he came to care about the humans.

He changed because he started to care about her.

So maybe her biological mom didn't do it but she still had a father figure step in that thought she was worth worth changing for, and eventually that she was worth everything.

literally so embarrassing to have someone go "i don't go here" or "what's this from?" on my art and it's a rarepair/crackship that is in no way representative of the source material... and i have to be like. well you see, the rest of the restaurant's menu is not like this. i'm doing my own thing eating black olives right out of the can in the back-of-house. whether or not you want me to throw you a can, you have to understand that's not what they serve out front

Sometimes you notice someone eating good olives out of a can and that's what gets you interested in the rest of the auraunt

Also:

  • Making someone listen to us (and then not taking their advice)
  • Procrastinating during job/school
  • Floor Time™️
  • Imaginary AMV to song you're currently listening to
  • Spin wheel of random prompts

Aaaaaaaand

  • Staring into the far distance during car rides/public transit!

Also consider:

  • Going for a walk!
  • Cooking a dinner!
  • Watching a video that you're only kind of interested in!
  • Having an extremely important conversation with someone where you're supposed to be listening to them the whole time!
  • Going to bed and trying to fall asleep!

And!

  • Being really busy and having no time to write until hours later!

I was so shocked when I learned that most artists do not believe in talent, saying that it is not real. Because it very much is, and that's evident in all the unique ways people have expressed themselves over time. However, it should be reminded what exactly talent is and is not.

Most people (artist or not) get talent confused with skill, ambition, and passion.

Talent - the essence of you and how your view of the world is expressed with other people. Your heart, your soul. THIS is what makes art moving whether you like how it looks or not. This cannot be taught or obtained as we all have talent of some kind.

Skill - How good you are at something or the lack thereof. Art is SKILL, not a talent. It is merely a tool of expression that our species uses to communicate with each other, any person can make art. Skill comes from time and practice. You do not have to be talented to be skilled and vice versa. Art that lacks skill can still be captivating.

Ambition - The inert drive to complete something, to try and fail again. Ambition is generally active and not a passive action.

Passion - The love, admiration, respect, and care you have for something. You can be passionate about something but not be skilled or ambitious, at it. For example, I am passionate about animation but I do not exactly want to be an animator. *These definitions are based on real world experience, both mine and others.

You can be all 4 of these but it's no requirement to make art and express yourself.

You do NOT have to be talented at art to be a skilled artist. You may want to focus your soul energy into something else and that's ok! There are talented artists who are not skilled, and skilled artists who do not focus their talent in this area.

However you came to make art is valid and right for you, there are no rules on how to create! as long as you made it with your own hands, or got permission to use the artwork of others.

Interesting wood burning technique

This looks cool but this technique is extraordinarily dangerous and people have literally died trying it

For more info, check out the very informative Ann Reardon video:

Seriously. Pyrography already exists and a bit of practice and experimentation will get you something just as beautiful without playing chicken with the Grim Reaper.

You are not the exception to 'fuck around and find out'.

additional comment from the anon: this mostly applies to things like smut or nsfw art. I see a lot of blogs that are 18+ and I’ve always wondered if people actually listen to "minors dni (do not interact)" or if they just ignore them.
