Just thinking about the fact that I turned in a photo of me using my wheelchair with the text "Disabled people have sex!" overlaid on it for an extra credit assignment in my human sexuality class this semester.

In the end, if children bother you for sensory reasons and that's why you don't want them to be in the same public spaces as you, there are disabled adults who can and would cause the same sensory issues for you. Adults who are loud, who vocally stim, who have poor boundaries, poor hygiene, who cry in public, etc etc etc. And they're already socially ostracized for all of this.

So actually yeah, it's the bare minimum you can do for the group with the least human rights on the planet to figure out how to accept children as part of your public community without hating them for it, even if you are child-free yourself.

As a wheelchair user I'm trying to reframe my language for "being in the way."

"I'm in the way," "I can't fit," and "I can't go there," is becoming "there's not enough space," "the walkway is too narrow," and "that place isn't accessible."

It's a small change, but to me it feels as if I'm redirecting blame from myself to the people that made these places inaccessible in the first place. I don't want people to just think that they're helping me, I want them to think that they're making up for someone else's wrongdoing. I want them to remember every time I've needed help as something someone else caused.

I must not mock Gen Alpha. Mocking Gen Alpha is the mind killer. Mocking Gen Alpha is the little-death that brings total generational solidarity obliteration. I will engage with Gen Alpha lovingly. I will permit them to be cringe. And when they grow up I will turn my eye to their accomplishments. Where mocking has gone there will be nothing. Only generational solidarity remains

when is comes to asexuality and aromanticism you have to be okay with contradiction. one ace person will say asexuality is about not experiencing attraction, another will say it’s about not caring to act on attraction, another will say it’s not experiencing arousal. one aromantic will consider themself queer, one won’t. two people with seemingly identical experiences will use two different labels. aro people will be in romantic relationships, ace people will have sex. you get it.

"Asexual is an umbrella term for those who exist on a spectrum, with a myriad of observations, perspectives, and conclusions about asexuality itself... [Some] might describe themselves as someone who 'experiences sexual desire but has little to no inclination to ever act upon it (with another person)' or they might say that they simply 'prefer not to have sex, have opted out of sex, never want to have anything to do with sex, just never cared about sex, or like the idea of sex more than sex itself.' Some may not have pinned down the best language to describe or talk about their personal relationship to sex... but they find a home in asexuality nonetheless."

— Refusing Compulsory Sexuality: A Black Asexual Lens on Our Sex-Obsessed Culture by Sherronda J. Brown

“Asexuality is: a sexual orientation currently estimated to describe 1 percent of the population… Less commonly, it is defined as not valuing sex or sexual attraction enough to persue it.”

— The Invisible Orientation by Julie Sondra Decker

And these were just quotes I had on hand. Asexuality can take many forms. The most important thing to consider is not whether or not you have the same experience as another asexual, but whether you find value in using the label to describe your experience.

tiktok is such an awful app, it's almost designed to feed you misinformation and expose you to insane discourse. unlike beloved tumblr, the app that feeds me misinformation and exposes me to insane discourse

No, no, no, you see on tiktok an algorithm feeds you misinformation. On Tumblr I feed myself misinformation from my charcuterie board of hand-selected unhinged mutuals.

None of that mass market junk. Only artisanal, small batch, sustainably cultivated, fair trade horseshit.

Things that work in fiction but not real life

  • torture getting reliable information out of people
  • knocking someone out to harmlessly incapacitate them for like an hour
  • jumping into water from staggering heights and surviving the fall completely intact
  • calling the police to deescalate a situation
  • rafting your way off a desert island
  • correctly profiling total strangers based on vibes
  • effectively operating every computer by typing and nothing else
  • ripping an IV out of your arm without consequences
  • heterosexual cowboy

This post breaching containment has taught me that a lot of people seem to think they can accurately profile complete strangers. For the record, no the fuck you can't.
