So regarding Dorothy becoming president, how was she planning to get support from her party and both houses of congress?

Avatar

by being perfectly excellent at everything

So with Dorothy coming out, will she talk it out with Danny like they did beforehand?

i see you have submitted Question: Tell Me What Happens Later In Your Strip

do you wish for your answer to be 1) Spoilers or B) Lie?

you have selected B) Lie

no, she will not

When you started DOA was it a slow realization that you wanted to explore new romantic relationships between the characters cause you liked how they bounced off each other, or were you right off bat wanted these losers to smooch new losers

Avatar

wanting these losers to smooch new losers was foundational

Getting the itch to read more of your comics (I read DoA for 4-5 years when it came out), but between DoA, IW, and Shortpacked, where should I start? Apologies if you’ve gotten this question ad nauseam.

Start with DoA so you don't immediately think less of me. Those others are rough!

So you probably didn't expect this particular question when you posted the Joyce preview, but I have a question about her glasses.

Anyway, I've always assumed her glasses having the u-shaped frames was just an artistic choice so her eyes wouldn't be blocked, but in reality the frames were completely encircling the lenses.

But the way her glasses are drawn in the preview, makes it look like that's meant to be the actual shape of the frames, and not just a bit of artistic license

So now I'm hoping I can get a definitive answer on if the frames are actually that shape or not? Thanks!

I think originally the idea was that they were completed circles but then the tops were unrendered so to not block her eyes, as you say. But then when it came time to draw her glasses separately afterwards when occasions arose, I decided to keep that incompleteness consistent even when removed.

(dorothy has the same thing going on with her glasses, when separated from her eyes)

Would you ever consider releasing more of It's Walky in a print form? I know the Year Zero arc is available, but I would definitely pay to be able to hold the later arcs physically.

Avatar

The bad news is that Year Zero was a test run to see how It's Walky! would do in print. And it did fund, yes! 400 people funded it. The minimum order from my printer was 1000, and....

....i still have like 600 IW! books in my basement

no that's not accurate

i've started chucking crates of Year Zero books into our recycling bin to make storage room for Dumbing of Age books, which sell solidly

so maybe i have like 400 IW! books in my basement

And the worst news is that we discovered there's actually a cap to how much my readers will spend on my stuff! Folks have finite money per year for me. Fewer folks pledged for that year's Dumbing of Age volume, 'cuz I'd already tapped them out with the IW! book. And when the DoA books sell but the IW! one doesn't... that's not a sign for me to make more IW! books. All I'm doing is filling up my basement with stuff I can't sell.

So, uh, sorry! I wish I had a big collection of all of them, too. Them and Shortpacked!.

So regarding Joyce and sauces, why is red the only acceptable color?

Avatar

probably visceral experiences with non-red sauces
